Comments: (Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.)
Administrator's comments - The following numbered comments were sent to me from the horse motel owner from happy overnighters:
1) Thank you again!! Headed back to Oregon from a long trip to Del Mar. You have one of the best overnight places we've seen and been to. Good job. 2015.
2) Thank you, Bev, for the great hospitality! I appreciate having a warm safe place to arrive after a long days travel. Trish and Star. 2016.
3) Thank you so much for making our trip south so enjoyable. After all the roadblocks we had that prolonged our day seeing Bev waving us into the driveway was amazing. Excellent facilities, cutes plus bunk room and character. Would not hesitate for a moment to send people your way. Susanne and Linda. 2016
4) Thanks so much! Horses and ourselves were super comfy!! See you next time for sure! Sara and TJ, Kamloops, BC Canada. 2016.
5) Good turnaround for our large trailer. Thanks! 2016."

(6/22/16) - "Wonderful place to overnight- Owner was out of town but still was able to accommodate me! Lovely facility with options for different horse needs. Will definitely stay here again on my route!". . . (6/28/16) - "Bev is so genuine and caring and her barn is top notch! Her barn is beautiful and comfortable. Our horses settled in and relaxed immediately after being on the road 12 hours. Bev made sure we knew where everything was and that we and our horses had everything we needed. Highly recommended!". . . (2/9/17) - "Thank you Alan and Bev, such a sweet piece of paradise! Love all the services. Come to Canada so we can repay you! Wayne, Marilyn, and Allison Morris". . . (6/28/17) - "Beverly is the best hostess. Everything is as advertised. The old barn she has redone has nice big stalls, the horses were very settled. We were beating the heat and showed up quite a bit past midnight on the way there and back, she handled it with grace. We appreciated having the bunkhouse and the shower on site. Everything was very clean. Staying at A & B Horse Hostelry made the trip so much more enjoyable for all.". . . (3/2/18) - "Traveling north with unexpected layover due to snowy weather. Owner, Bev, was warm, courteous, and knowledgeable about local traveling conditions. Lots of parking, cozy comfy stalls for our weary ponies and secure arena to stretch their legs in the morning. Very clean barn and exceptional welcoming environment.". . . (3/4/18) - "Thank you Bev! What a relief for us to have found a warm stall and friendly people after a long haul and emergency stops all day! The stalls were cozy and the whole facility was immaculate and I felt safe leaving my beloved horse to have my own cozy lodging less than 5 min away.". . . (3/27/18) - "Wonderful, safe and clean place for horses, dog and people. We stayed in the bunkhouse and the horses had a good time in the pasture. Very friendly hosts and very convenient access to everything! Highly recommended.". . . (8/25/18) - "Nice people, nice clean safe place! We truly appreciated their efforts to make us and our horse comfortable. We highly recommend them!". . . (9/15/18) - (The following comments were sent from Shasta Valley Ranch in Montague, CA showing great cooperation between two horse motel owners) - "A and B Hostelry went above and beyond when I5 had an unexpected closure due to the Delta Fire 9/13/18. Beverly contacted me here at Shasta Valley Ranch concerned for a group of travelers expected to arrive at her facility that night. Delayed due to the closure of the freeway. Beverly turned to horsemotel.com and began looking for another possible safe overnight option for her expected guests, just a bit north of the I5 closure area. Beverly was instrumental in coordinating with our ranch and the traveling party and we arranged their overnight stay here at Shasta Valley Ranch. I appreciate her going the extra mile for our traveling equestrian folks, I would have done the same and have on many occasions to assure the safety and comfort of the our guests now or in the future....This is what makes us so good at what we do and the services we provide!Ē

(7/30/16) - "We pulled in and the temperature was 111 degrees. Honey, our horse, was very sweaty and tired. Kate showed us to the wash rack and we cooled Honey off before putting her in a stall with fresh cold water. She drank immediately. We were hot and tired as well and Ken offered to take us to the store to get dinner so we didn't have to unhook the trailer. When we got back we put Honey in the arena for the night to run around. We stayed in the guest room and the air conditioning was very welcoming. In the morning we took advantage of the coffee bar in the guest room. We walked around the tortoise rescue and met 30 turtles and tortoises before we got back on the road. If we ever come back this direction we will definitely stay here.". . . (9/4/16) - "This is by far one of the coolest places I've stayed!!! The bunk house is absolutely adorable. I love the spiral stairs and how it comfortably fits multiple beds. My horses were both very comfortable here. They knew this was a safe and relaxing place to be. Thank you Happy Hooves!". . . (9/5/16) - "A horse motel and tortoise rescue in one! Fun place to stay. The Colorado room was very comfortable to stay in. We even watched a horse movie. See you in two weeks!". . . (9/17/16) - "Late night arrival and Ken was there to greet me. He cleaned my trailer out at 2:00am; wow what service! Busy place; two other overnighters were here. Plenty of stalls for my 2 geldings.". . . (10/9/16) - "Happy Hooves is amazing and I won't stay anywhere else with my horses. They have a very nice, clean and safe facility with plenty of turn out and stalls. The owners are both super nice and go above and beyond every time I stop in. They have a great little bunkhouse that is perfect for overnights after long drives and the horses love it here!". . . (11/8/16) - "My horse and I just finished a wonderful stay at Happy Hooves Horse Motel. We were greeted with a great big welcome smile from Ken. When I unloaded my horse, Ken was cleaning out the back of my trailer to my great surprise. Ken and Kate were wonderful hosts and accommodated me and my horse's every needs. I was even fortunate to go on a trail ride with Kate right out their backyard! The stall where my horse stayed was clean as well as the rest of the barn (and property). The arena was lighted so I could use it day or night. There was plenty of room to park my trailer. Getting into the property and out was easy. Their tortoise/turtle rescue sanctuary is amazing. I learned that tortoises love to have their shells rubbed/scratched and respond to it. The riding in the area is amazing. I plan to visit Happy Hooves Horse Hotel again to use for a base camp to ride in the area (and of course for the opportunity to visit with Ken and Kate again).". . . (4/20/17) - "My buddies and I traveled to the Red Bluff Rodeo from Texas. We dropped off our horses at this hotel for the day while we went to feed the steers in Red Bluff. We found out our dad paid for stalls at the rodeo grounds. When we came back to pick up the horses and apologize for not staying, Kate was so nice and didn't even charge us. We will be back and stay here in May for the Redding Rodeo. It was easy in and out with our 40 foot living quarters trailer.". . . (5/17/17) - "Conveniently located about 2.5 miles off of the 5. Very nice people and place. Love their giant tortoises.". . . (6/19/17) - "This is a wonderful place to board a horse of any size. The owner was amazing in helping load our draft cross when she refused to get in our trailer. We never could have done it without him. The stables were well cared for and the owner was responsive to both my initial and follow up inquiry. He even met us at the gate when we rolled in near midnight and cheerfully directed us in. The location is very near the highway and although the precise website directions may seem a bit complicated they are right on and easy even in the dark. Could not have asked for a better set up and at a great price.". . . (8/13/17) - "Nice place to overnight. Wow, you have a lot of tortoises. Cool place to stop; I'll be back.". . . (11/26/17) - "Very accommodating and lovely turn out as long as your horse doesn't mind the Llama.". . . (4/14/18) - "Loved this place! Took great care of my horses after a long trek from northern Washington state. It was a great layover and the people are awesome. I would definitely use this place again.". . . (9/3/18) - "Traveling from Oregon to Los Angeles. This seemed to be a good stopping point. We arrived mid day to smokey skies from the Carr Fire. We were greeted by Ken & Dave the ranchhand. Dave cleaned out our trailer while Ken showed us around the tortoise rescue. Tortoise Acres Rescue & Sanctuary is amazing. Check them out on Facebook or on their webpage http://www.tortoiseacres.comtortoiseacres.com. Can't wait for our return trip in a week. Thanks for taking the time to make us feel welcome. We used the wash rack to cool off our horses from the hot ride."

Comments: (5/10/12) - "Alicia Ryan has NorCal Stables listed as a horse motel also. On 4/30/12, we used her facility to overnight our horse. We had stayed there a few years ago when it was under other ownership; it was disappointingly run-down. BUT NOW: wow, under Alicia's able management, it is a facility to be proud of. Our mare had a clean, safe, huge, matted stall with an adequate-sized turn-out to stretch her legs. Everything was well-organized. Alicia is very professional. She knows and does what is necessary to run a successful horse business. We'll be back!". . . (7/28/16) - "We had a great stay with NorCal Riding Stables. Alicia was there to greet us as soon as we pulled in. It was so close to I-5 which made it nice since we were in the truck for 10 hours. Plenty of parking and very close to food and lodging. The stalls were very clean and well matted. We will be back in a few weeks when we head up. Great place and I would highly recommend them for overnighting your horse or horses."

Comments: (2/27/10) - "Dale and Joanne Galbraith are real horsemen. They are genuine and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend them as a motel, source of lessons and I even purchased a horse from them and he was everything they said and more. VERY HONEST FOLKS !! A++". . . (3/4/14) - "I really enjoyed my stay at Dale and Joanne's Ranch. Coffee's on in the morning and it's safe and sound and I slept like a rock! The cottages are really cute, the one I got had two beds, a huge full bath, a huge closet with some of the goodies she sells for her tack shop! Cool shirts and chairs, etc. There is everything you need for sale at the tackshop, trailers for sale, even horses, AQHA or Paint. If you're in the market for anything, Joanne probably has it! The horse facility was perfect; a large pen each, lots of water and feeders. Great location off the freeway, huge arena and just everything you need including conversation and Joanne is a wealth of knowledge; you can learn more from her than you know :} Pattern horse racing, barrels, speed events, lessons or otherwise. If you're serious about improving go stay at the ranch for a couple of days. Sincerely, Kara Felix Lake Stevens, WA.". . . (8/5/18) - "Joanne was very helpful, welcoming, friendly and knowledgable. She taught me something about my horse trailer that I didn't know!"

Comments: (9/11/17) - "Best place in Bakersfield, CA. Horses loved the green pasture that was fun for them to run and let loose after a long trailer ride. Stalls were super clean, large, and state of the art. The two rooms where we stayed were above and beyond what we expected. I enjoyed a great cup of coffee in the morning and there was plenty of room to park your truck and trailer. Easy turn around. They even accommodated our dog in a kennel. Best hosts. I would stay here again.". . . (2/21/18) - "This was by far the nicest place I stayed, in all ways that matter. Kathy was there to greet me and show me around and help me get my horse settled in. Her husband ran an extension cord so I had power. They were both so very nice...and now I have a new friend. *****Five star rating+++". . . (2/23/18) - "Great Ranch to stay at if traveling or passing through Bakersfield. It is centrally located between the 5 and 99, close to restaurants and stores. The owners are very nice and genuine people who care about what you want for your animals. They are very accommodating and easy to work with. They sent me pictures of the ranch and detailed descriptions of where my horse would be staying so I had piece of mind on our long travels prior to our arrival. When we arrived, everything was tidy, clean and just as they had described. They checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and even recommended local places to eat. They checked in with us a few days later to make sure we made it to our destination safely. Just so very nice of them! Perfect stay, lovely people and highly recommended.". . . (2/25/18) - "Kathy was waiting for us when we arrived and was very welcoming and friendly. The horse was well taken care of with a large, green, turnout, water and feed trough. We were impressed by the cleanliness, proper horse fencing and attention to detail...highly recommended and we'll be back again.". . . (4/3/18) - "Lovely hostess, Kathy made us feel so at home. My horse loved the pasture turnout; ample fresh water and large stalls. Great spot; I will return on my next trip south.". . . (8/15/18) - "I would stay here again in a heartbeat...by far the best place I stayed on my Texas round trip from King City, CA. I would HIGHLY recommend the JKC RANCH to anyone for first class horse and human accommodations. Thanks Kathy and Justin...you are the BEST!!!"

Comments: (11/2/17) - "Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that Rancho Rio is even cleaner then it used to be. The caretaker, Aaron, was one of the most customer-friendly and responsive equine caretakers I have ever encountered. Our horse's pens were clean and had automatic watering. We parked our 32 foot, 3 horse gooseneck live-aboard, used 120V service, had water available, and our horses were very close. Rancho Rio has trail access and its own obstacle course and multiple clean arenas for turnout. The new ownership is making a positive difference and we will be return customers soon."

(8/11/04) - "We were moving two very green horses from Arizona to Northern California in the hottest part of summer and so were travelling by night. I left my young stallion and mare at this facility in the heat of the day while my friend and I went to get some sleep. We were exhuasted and not very pleasant when we arrived, and Tim helped us unload our frightened animals. He has a very calm and quiet way which was very impressive. When we came to load, his sons, Joe and Kevin, came out to help. Joe has the same quiet efficient way with horses as his Dad, and Kevin was a delight and very helpful. We were very impressed and, if they will have us, plan to use this facility whenever we are hauling between California and Arizona.". . .(11/3/04) - "Tim and Julie were absolutely wonderful! They met us upon arrival and were extremely helpful. My horses stayed for almost 2 weeks and were very well taken care of. Thank you!". . .(9/15/05) - "Our visit with Tim and Julie was wonderful. We made new friends and their family went way beyond the call of duty. Their children were wonderful helpers and their hospitality was overwhelming. Without question the place to stay with your horses when traveling. Thank again folks.". . .(10/28/05) - "My husband had to make this trip by himself (ENOUGH to worry me to begin with).....Was held up in picking up the horse we needed to deliver and was HOURS past expected arrival time ~~ Told me that Tim and Julie were GREAT!!!! even with an 11:00pm arrival time, they even offered to come and meet him and bring a trailer if it was needed AND my husband said the place was GREAT, CLEAN and we will ALWAYS stay here when a layover is needed in the future.". . .(4/30/06) - "We were very late coming in due to mechanical problems, we were sure sorry to wake them up. Facility very quiet, room for turn out and exercise.". . .(6/7/06) - "Facility owners were very nice, came right out when we pulled in and took care of my gelding. Their directions were easy to follow. We would definitely use their facility again.". . . (8/22/06) - "The whole family, including the kids, were very freindly & helpful with us and the horses. I felt very comfortable leaving my horses in their care. I would definitely call them again when we are passing through Bakersfield. Thanks again!!!". . .(10/9/06) - "Tim's daughter & son were very helpful upon our arrival. Thank you.". . .(2/25/08) - "We had no problems with anything. Our horses had safe, large outdoor paddocks and I camped in my camper nearby.". . . (12/23/08)- "Super folks. I would recommend this motel to anyone. Very nice down to earth people. The kids were so helpful and we were impressed to see kids like that still existed! The ranch took us in late with not a lot of notice. We definitely would stay there again. THANK YOU!". . . (10/17/09) - "I think it's now going on 4 years that we've used Sioux City horse motel. We travel back & forth from WA state to AZ twice a year. Each time I've been treated with friendliness from Tim & Julie & their kids, regardless the time of arrival. I feel very secure leaving my mare at their place. Their place is the best!! Thanks guys.". . . (8/28/14) - "Tim is very nice, and helpful. They live on the property which makes for good security. His place reminds you of a quirky little western town. We are snowbirds and haul horses back and forth each year. It hasn't worked out for us to stop there last year, but when it does, we will be calling him! He made us feel right at home, let us turn our horses out and had stalls all ready. One of our favorites.". . . (10/4/14) - "The facility and people are great! It was a quick and short stay for us but they were up in the am before us to give the horses their breakfast! Quick note: For those of you unfamiliar with desert ranches - if you want something other than sand for bedding you have to ask for it. But there was lots of sand in the stalls so my horses seemed to rest just fine. Very cute place - just like the old west.". . . 6/16/15 - "I had a positive experience with Tim and his whole family. Very nice folks. Informal operation. I arrived at dark and they helped me quite well. My mare went in the round pen and had room to move and roll. She had plenty of water and was fed early in the morning. Easy to park my trailer, no corners or tight spots. Next morning, I got up and rode my mare in the arena to loosen her up for the haul home. Tim and his sons helped me load the new mare, which was very appreciated. Very kind, family operation."

Comments: (12/16/12) - "Nice safe stalls, great place to layover with horses!". . . (1/8/13) - "This is a nice safe and secure location for you and your horses. They have one 30 amp hookup that is a little difficult for a 40 foot LQ we had to get to, but, we did. The only "negative" is it rained fairly heavily that night and we had to use 4 wheel drive to back our rig out of the hookup location, very muddy at that spot.". . . (12/6/13) - "Great stay. RV hook ups as stated. We were greeted and helped with our horses on arrival. Clean facilities. Would stay here again if in the area. Thanks for everything.". . . (3/12/14) - "This is a fantastic place to overnight! The folks here take a lot of pride in their place. The stalls are always clean and with good fresh water. Even when showing up late at night and early in the A.M. They always make sure someone is available upon arrival. Everyone is very accommodating, kind, and helpful. The gates are locked up at night, so I never had to worry about anything getting stolen or destroyed. Triple C is also a great place to board your horse. I was transferred to a different state for work and had to leave my horse in California for the time being. I decided to leave him at Triple C since I had had been so impressed with them after overnighting there. I ended up having to leave my horse there for a year before I could go get him. They took absolutely fantastic care of him. He was fat and happy when I went to pick him up. Thanks again to all of you at Triple C for the great experience and for taking care of my boy while I was away!"

We would stay there again.". . .(2/25/08) - "We always stop here when we are traveling through the Sacramento area. This is a very safe, clean facility for travelers and their horses. We camp in our RV in close proximity to our horses.". . .(3/26/08) - "Wonderful, friendly people and a very clean, safe facility for our horses. This was our third time to stay at Shandoni.". . . (9/24/09) - "Not a fancy facility, but very clean, safe and quiet. Our horses had large pipe paddocks that were very safe. I felt very comfortable leaving them when we went back to the motel. The owner is a solid horseman and all his horses were impeccably cared for, a good sign. He was very accommodating. Our Pony Club friends in the area recommended Shandoni highly. We will stay at Shandoni again!". . . (11/28/09) - "Doreen and Jay are wonderful people who make your stay at their ranch very pleasant. Ask Doreen to show you some of her wonderful paintings. I now have two of her prints in my home. Once I was lucky enough to be there on the weekend when Doreen had her exhibit and sale in the barn. Also, be sure to try the breakfast burritos at the little store just up the road."

My horse had all the grazing that he needed in a large, outside paddock to rehydrate before heading to the Coast. Highly recommend this place. Lois has stalls and paddocks available, too. Comments: (0/20/03) - "I recently made a horse trade that required driving and meeting the other person at a halfway point. We called late in the afternoon and were able to make arrangements for that evening, even though we arrived several hours apart. Our host was wonderful, making sure we had everything for both horses, including a selection of hay, a place to clean up an injured horse, and suggestions on where to stay. We were out there 'til after midnight, and pulled out at 6 in the morning. I would definitely stay there again! Only drawback.. it was a little difficult to find late at night, and the hotel was not as close as I would have liked, but closer than some. A+!!". . . (1/21/04) - "First Class Accommodations. Easy to find off 99, large stalls, abundant shavings, round pen, two arenas, friendly, helpful hosts and within 2 miles of food and lodging. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.". . .(9/3/04) - "Wonderful people with a beautiful boarding facility. I am sorry that we will be leaving! Thankyou.". . .(1/5/07) - "The accommodations were excellent as well as the service. Thanks again for everything.". . .(9/2/07) - "A first class facility. Easy access from CA 99. Large clean turn out areas for trailered horses to stretch their legs. Stall new, secure with rubber mats and fresh shavings. Auto waterers in each stall. Hostess was friendly, charming and helpful. We stayed on site in our truck camper with electricity provided. All in all one of the best stables we have stayed at. Thanks for the restaurant recommendation, too.". . .(2/24/08) - "They communicate well when contacted about staying overnight. The stalls are large and always clean. Feel very welcome there and they are so flexible on arrival and departure times so we can stay on our schedule. Great place!". . . (3/10/10) - "Awesome host and facilities! My daughters and I have stayed at Silverglen two times and both stays were exceptional. Clean, safe and friendly. Would highly recommend to all travelers!". . . (6/24/12) - "We have overnighted here 3 times in the last 2 years. It's been great every time!". . . (6/27/12) - "In May 2012, we were on our way back from AZ and had reservations to stay in Tehachapi. However, the wind was blowing so hard, we decided to drive on. We called to inquire availability. Our stay was great. Clean, safe facility, shavings in the stall, shade to enjoy while watching my horse. We stayed in our LQ-horse trailer and enjoyed a great shower before heading to town to enjoy dinner at recommended restaurant. All in all, a great stay, would stay again and have told friends about it.". . . (1/29/14) - "Top-Notch facility. Nice and clean and well organized. Magnificent covered arena. Through an electronic snafu, the hostess did not receive my email and phone message till the morning after our arrival but because of the website info and her initial email communications with me, installing my horse at 10:30pm without anyone from the ranch being present was a snap. Human lodging and food was about 5 miles away. You will not be disappointed in this facility. Very nice feel to it and peaceful.. . . (3/13/16) - "Great people-great barns! Great layover! If we ever get back to Fresno we will stop again!". . . (9/10/16) - "What a super place! Clean and secure. We had our 7 month old puppy with us and felt safe she couldn't leave the property as it was totally fenced with dog proof fences. Lots of room to turn around in (we are about 75' long and had no trouble) Would stay again for sure."

(10/10/14) - "Absolutely awesome facility. Rusty and Linda are the nicest, most accommodating hosts. Couldn't have asked for anything better. The whole place was impeccably clean. The corrals and stalls were spacious and safe with feeders and fresh, clean water. Huge corral available to let your horses blow off the cooped up road miles. The whole place is quiet and peaceful, perfect place to rest after a long haul.", , , (3/17/15) - "Linda and Rusty were fabulous hosts! I loved their place for the horses, with mountain views, and I could park my rig with LQ right there near them. Everything was wonderful: safe, secure, quiet. It might be a drive of a few miles to restaurants and motels, but nothing unusual. It's gorgeous country and I'd stay there again without hesitation.". . . (4/1/15) - "One of my horses and I recently had two occasions to stay with Rusty and Linda. They are exceptionally gracious and generous hosts. They keep their facility fastidiously clean and safe. They have a nice turn out area for the horses as well as nice shelters with protected enclosures. Their little trailer is comfortable and located close to the horses. It was perfect for me as I do not have a shower in my horse trailer. My short stays with Linda and Rusty added a very pleasant aspect to my trip and I would heartily recommend them and their facility to anyone traveling with horses.". . . (5/11/16) - "We had a great stay! They were very helpful and had maps etc. for the local and surrounding areas. Horses had real nice pens.". . . (9/14/16) - "We utilized the facilities for a brief stop to give our three horses a break from the road. Linda and Rusty were very friendly. They let us use the travel trailer during our stay and even stocked the fridge with drinks. The trailer and facilities were very clean. We will definitely use this place again.". . . (12/27/16) - "Rusty and Linda have to be two of the kindest people I have ever met. They made us feel so welcome and helped with any little thing we needed. They went above and beyond what you would expect. The facilities are great. I especially appreciated being able to feed my horse on the rubber mats so she wouldn't pick up sand.". . . (6/23/17) - "Bonfire Ranch is well appointed and has everything a horse and weary traveler might need. Our hosts, Rusty and Linda, went above and beyond to make our stay at their lovely family ranch an experience we will not soon forget. They provided maps and good recommendations for dining. The stalls were comfortable for our horses and the full hookups for the camper were conveniently located. We can't say enough good things about our hosts and their warm reception! We highly recommend Bonfire Ranch if you are traveling with your horse in this part of California!!". . . (10/16/17) - "What a lovely respite after a long haul with a horse from north of Reno, NV. Linda and Rusty were there when we arrived and waved us onto their beautiful, well-kept property. They are sweet and thoughtful hosts, and very thorough in their explanation about the barn and the RV. Three of us ladies shared a comfortable night in their RV. The smallest of us slept on the couch, and the queen bed was quite comfortable for the other two. Quarters are a little tight, so I wouldn't recommend if someone is very tall or if there are more than three in your party (kids, yes). The hosts left drinks (sodas, water) and muffins to get the day started and recommended a restaurant in town (which we could not try this trip). Overall, it was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend this horse motel for weary travelers with your horses.". . . (11/16/17) - "We stayed at Bonfire Ranch for two nights in November 2017. The ranch was beautiful, alongside the incredible kindness and generosity of our hosts. Linda and Rusty were wonderful in helping us with whatever we needed and went above and beyond to make our stay great. They were the definition of hospitality! The facilities were spacious and private, with great scenery to match. Lovely riding only 10 minutes away. This was a little piece of heaven, and we could have easily stayed there longer. Thanks for a lovely time!". . . (9/6/18) - "Rusty & Linda are both incredible hosts! I loved my stay with them dearly. They were so kind to me and my horse Peg during our extended stay in Ridgecrest and went above and beyond to make sure we were both well cared for while waiting for my truck to be fixed. You can't find any nicer folks to stay with. They and their facility are simply lovely!"

Comments: (6/9/15) - "This place was great. Clean, friendly, easy in and out, large and spacious horse turnouts with cover for shade and with or without grass. Automatic water. Many wineries near by. Will definitely make this a regular stop.". . . (3/9/16) - "Great people! Gary and his staff were very nice and helpful! If we are ever this way again we will stop. The only reason I put neutral on the stall comment was our horses had a shed with turn out which they prefer anyway. We were thankful they had cover the night of the storm!! Thanks to Mr. Andrrson!!. . . (6/21/18) - "After a long drive, my scheduled accommodations fell through. Mr. Anderson immediately responded to my last minute request for stall and camping, relieving a huge amount of stress. Staff met me promptly upon arrival and were very kind and helpful. Facilities are super pretty, neat and clean. Iím actually glad I ended up here! I highly recommend The Hitchinh Post."

Comments: (6/14/18) - "Diane is a wonderful host! The room is comfortable & pretty. You can sit on the lanai & watch your horses in her beautiful pasture and ride out her back gate & ride to Folsom Lake! Great trails! Also, both Auburn & Loomis are just a couple minute drive with many food options & shopping - canít beat Rustic Ranch.". . . (6/27/18) - "Harris Rustic Ranch is where you want to stay if you want to be comfortable, surrounded by natural beauty and enjoy the most fantastic horse trails right outside your bedroom door.". . . (9/15/18) - "Harris Rustic Ranch sure was an incredible place to stay! Gordon and Diane are so very welcoming! Diane made sure we had everything we needed and we lacked for nothing. Such a relaxing and tranquil environment; plenty of room for your horses in the oak studded large pastures and easy access to many beautiful trails. We spent evenings around the pool and mornings on the verranda sipping our coffee and enjoying the atmosphere of rural country living. We stayed 2 nights and wished for more! We will definitely be back, anxious to spend more time here during the changing seasons enjoying the beauty of the Sierra Nevada foothills, through the year."

(7/22/04) - "Out of six horse motels I stayed at this trip, this was far and away the best of any. Everything was clean. The stalls more than adequate in size, a covered round pen was available to exercise the horse. All in all the facilities great. . . .". . .(8/9/04) - "Due to circumstances beyond our control...we arrived at Angel Acres at 3am. We were greeted with smiling faces and hospitality. (3/13/16) - "The hosts greeted us on the road with flashlights to show us where to enter. There was a large sandy area to turn around our 4 horse gooseneck. The stalls were great with fresh bedding, automatic waterers and the entire barn was very clean. The hosts stayed with us to make sure we had everything we needed. They offered to let us use their feed and even though we used our own feed, they had good quality clean grass hay and we wouldn't hesitate to use it. We will stay here again.". . . (11/7/16) - "Great over all experience; the facility was close to I-5 and well kept. Thank you Barbara (Hostess), who met us at the gate with a flashlight and open arms; she was very helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. We would stay here again. There was plenty of room for our RV and trailer.". . . (1/18/18) - "Our stay at Angel Acres was exceptional. The host was very helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed and knew where everything was located, so when we left very early in the morning, it was like leaving our own home. The barn was very tidy, stalls were clean and big. I would definitely recommend Angel Acres, if you are looking to lay up in the Los Banos area."

(3/31/17) - "Such a beautiful place. Great indoor/outdoor stalls. There is a nice big pasture for the horses to run around or relax in after a long trailer ride. A big, beautiful arena to ride the horses in, and beautiful nearby trails. A lovely place to stay. Definitely recommend this to all.". . . (4/28/17) - "Kathy and Jim Howard are wonderful hosts; very helpful showing us around the ranch and beyond. Beautiful Mt. Shasta always in sight. If you have a chance, bring your horses for a wonderful stay!". . . (7/3/17) - "Thank you Kathy and Jim! We would stay again in a heartbeat! Hospitality, cleanliness, safety, availability, etc., were excellent. Care for the horses and guests was provided with heart, skill and great consideration for all needs.Thank you!". . . (10/14/17) - "Shasta Valley Ranch is a beautiful, clean, safe and easy access ranch. Kathy is so wonderful and she tends to every detail. I traveled and stayed in a lot of places in 2017. No comparison, we were the most comfortable here. The energy with her and her horses is very welcoming and peaceful. Thank you, Kathy, for sharing your piece of heaven with us.". . . (10/18/17) - "Shasta Valley Ranch is by far the best place we have stayed at with our horses, us and our pets. Kathy was waiting at the end of her driveway to guide us in and was so welcoming and helpful with getting the horses settled in her immaculate barn, then showing us around their 3 bedroom modular home where we stayed. Everything was just perfect. And the ranch is in such a beautiful setting with fabulous views of Mt. Shasta. I wish we could have stayed way longer! We definitely will be back and I highly recommend this beautiful ranch to anyone traveling with their horses.". . . (11/14/17) - "Jim and Kathy were amazing. They met us at the road, helped us get setup (we arrived late) and made sure our horses were comfortable. Next day they gave us a layout of the ranch and riding trails with maps. We love this place and will be back. We traveled from Oregon to Texas and they were the friendliest ranch we stayed at, plus they have amazing places to ride.". . . (1/8/18) - "This was a great place to stay. The owners were very friendly and quick to respond. The stalls were clean and safe. The closest dinner and services are a 20 minute drive that is the only thing. But they also do an air B and B so we were able to stay there also. And that was great. All of us got the rest that we needed to continue our trip the next day. If we are ever traveling in that area again we will stay there again.". . . (7/11/18) - "Nice, friendly folks, very accommodating, place was easy to get to, very quiet. I would definitely go back.". . . (7/18/18) - "Beautiful, clean, safe, quiet welcoming facility! Great horse, human and dog accommodations! We arrived late due to a hold up at the show we were leaving but were welcomed at the highway by owners who guided us into the facility. Lovely set-up - we compete at combined driving and there was plenty of room there to drive and practice our dressage test in the arena if we had needed it. Rented the guest home and it was lovely! Will stop every chance we get when we travel in the future! Thank you for a wonderful experience.". . . (8/9/18) - "Jim and Kathy met me at the gate and responded quickly to all of my texts/emails as I approached Montague, Shasta Valley Ranch. Once I arrived Jim surprised me by cleaning my horse trailer as Kathy gave me numerous options for where to place my horses. I chose to rent the home on the premises, and STAYED FOR TWO DAYS!! Clean, comfortable and secure accommodations for my horses and myself and I will definitely stop there anytime I drive I-5. Easy access off/on the highway and lots of room to maneuver my trailer. Kathy and Jim were perfect hosts!!". . . 9/16/18 - (The following comments were sent from A & B Horse Hostelry in Anderson, CA showing great cooperation between two horse motel owners) - "Shasta Valley Ranch, near Yreka, CA, did a great job helping me when a forest fire burned toward the highway. Kathy Howard and her husband accommodated a group of travelers from Seattle when I called for help. She was willing to take two horses, five goats, and a few people with four dogs when I-5 suddenly closed {due to a wildfire}. A long detour late at night was prevented because SVR was willing to take in my weary customers and their animals. Thanks again, Kathy."

Comments: (8/22/17) - "Jacqui went above and beyond! She had great communication both before and during my horse's stay. The facility is clean and safe and she even called the evening of my horse's stay (while I was at a hotel) to let me know that my horse was eating and drinking well. It put my mind at ease as this was a stopover during a multi-state haul. Highly recommended!". . . She has a system in place to make sure their care is top notch and her dedication is evident. She is very personable and knowledgeable. So glad we found her.". . . (7/31/18) - "Jacqui is the most amazing person; happy and alway a pleasure to speak with. She treats her guests like family; horses and human. Stalls are cleaned three to four times a day and horses are turned out and fly masks put on and taken off each day."

Comments: (1/31/13) - "Lovely facility. Horses were well cared for and the grounds were very clean. The hosts were very accessible and helped talk me into the facility even with the late evening arrival. Thank you so much for a safe comfortable haven during the start of my cross country trip.". . . (4/2/13) - "Great place! The owner answered the phone, even though it was last minute. I arrived late, had no problem finding the stables. Horse was fed, hooked up RV and I enjoyed the perfect weather. The whole family enjoyed the two night stay over. Large dirt lot out front and our kids played while my wife Billenda relaxed. (son Billy and daughter Willamina). Thanks for your hospitality, The Billsoms!". . . (2/27/17) - "Clean facility, great accessibility for large trailers, easy to find even at midnight when you've never been there before. Mike was super friendly. We will definitely stay here again!

(1/18/11) - "This was a delightful overnight stay. Owner offered dinner and breakfast! Way above our expectations. Everything was clean and roomy. Beautiful location and facility.". . . (2/7/11) - "A 1st class stable and host. Great meals and bedroom provided. The best. Reserve early.". . . (4/30/11) - "Lynn was a wonderful hostess. She met us at the gate and provided meals and lodging for us and a clean, sheltered paddock for our horses. We had a flat tire during our travel and she was able to recommend a tire store that provided excellent customer service. Thank you Lynn!". . . (9/26/11) - "Wolfe Haven exceeded our expectations in every way; more than a stop-over, Lynn Wolfe's beautiful farm proved to be a gorgeous destination unto itself. Tucked into the rolling hills at the edge of the stunning Cummings Valley near Tehachapi, this place truly lives up to its name as a haven of peace for road-weary travelers: equine, human, and canine, too. Lynn's warm hospitality and immaculate facilities were the best welcome to California we could have imagined. Thank you, Lynn!". . . (12/29/11) - "Hostess was very accommodating to an impromptu late evening request...very clean, spacious, good directions and even met us on the road with a flashlight! Peaceful, we would go back anytime.". . . (5/21/12) - "Definitely have to agree with all comments made by other travelers!! Our stay 4/27/12 was great, even though the weather was not. A grass pasture turn-out for Rio, a great Italian dinner with wine and a place to park our rig made for a comfortable night's stay. We had planned to stay on our return 5/15, but we were anxious to arrive back home in N.Calif. However, if we're traveling that way again, you can believe we'll stay with Lynn, and I'm sharing this piece of horse heaven with all horse traveling friends.". . . (7/1/12) - "This is a delightful place to stay for my horse, my dog, myself and my husband who is not into horses. It was clean, views were awesome and Lynn was friendly and interesting. She cared for my horse and fed me dinner and breakfast which were both delicious . I wandered around the property, enjoying the space and rolling hills on this 20 acres ranch. It is a bit off the highway but easily worth it!". . . (12/16/12) - "Lovely pens for horses and mules, large pasture safe to allow your horse a run before putting up in the ample stalls for the night. AND no noise from trains!". . . (3/17/15) - "Wonderful set-up. Very clean facility. Would recommend to others, and would stay again. It's a little higher priced than the others we stayed at, but still okay. I would say the apartment is a bit high priced, but it beat going back to town for a motel. We had a wonderful experience there. I wish I had her facility at my house!". . . (8/4/15) - "Lynne was friendly and very helpful; made recommendations for a great dinner place in town. The horse accommodations were excellent; clean, large enough for the horses to move around easily. A large turnout was available for us too. I left fly masks there and she got them back to me by priority mail. A great spot to stay!". . . (8/10/15) - "This is one of the BEST places we have ever over nighted with our horses. Lynn & Robert are very helpful from the time you pull in to the time you load & go. The facility is spotless & the stalls are secure. We look forward to visiting with Lynn, Marianne, & Robert each trip we take through Tehachapi.". . . (11/15/16) - "We were very late arriving due to a large accident on the freeway. Lynn had everything ready for us and was out waiting to help us.". . . (2/20/17) - "I would recommend Wolfe Haven for everyone' very clean and large pens and nice stalls! Couldn't ask for anything better!!". . . (6/4/17) - "The hostess, Lynne, was absolutely wonderful. Her facilities were exactly what we needed while taking a break from riding the PCT. I would highly recommend her!". . . (11/26/17) - "Great place to stay with your horse and very accommodating with excellent trailer hook up and access. Directions were excellent and owner was very communicative!"

Comments: (9/20/15) - "Due to unexpected delays, we called as we rolled into town. Dave gave us directions over the phone and was waiting for us when we arrived. After a long day, that was greatly appreciated! Both Dave and Sherry were as helpful and as accommodating as one could wish. The stalls were new, spacious and very clean. We felt very secure that our horses would get some good rest. They penned their two dogs so our leased dog could get some exercise. We made some new friends and will definitely stop here again. Carol, Teri & Mark."

Comments: (2/10/14) - "Great place.". . . (5/13/14) - "Great place to stay! Nice big clean stalls with waterers. Very clean facility. Lots of room for large rigs, they were very accommodating with our late arrival. Right off the interstate and easy to find.". . . (8/28/14) - "I'm not exactly positive that someone is monitoring during the night, (I mean who really has a night watch person?) but we feel all the facilities are secure, clean and safe. We are snowbirds bringing horses back and forth each year. This is one of our favorites and Dawn is always reachable by cell. We call prior to arrival and she or someone just as capable is there to help. She makes us feel right at home, allows us to turn out our horses to roll and stretch in the arena before bedding them down. (In another place, the fairgrounds, we actually were told we couldn't let our horses roll in the arena after being in the trailer for 10 hours!) We love that Dawn always has plenty of clean shavings and water. She has let us park our Motorhome there (for overnight) but motels are close by.". . . (5/1/16) - "Awesome place! Very close to freeway, hotels, and food. Ranch staff was there to welcome me and stayed with me to help make sure my horse was settled and all my questions answered. Big turnouts, multiple arenas, nice stalls. Would stay here again!". . . (6/23/17) - "Very accommodating, great facility. Plenty of room for LQ. Would stay again!"
