Comments: (10/20/20) - "2 stays under our belt at this facility and both were equal and each exceeded our expectations. Tammy is very accommodating and made us feel at home. She was prepared for our arrival, the horse area was clean and 100% ready for us with fresh water and clean shavings. No problem returning to this facility; well done!!". . . (11/4/21) - "Tammies Gemstone is a brilliantly clean overnight for horses!!! Super friendly, and very reasonably priced. If you have a living quarters, you cannot beat this place. Stores around the corner if you need, and propane right up the street! Thank you Tammie for everything!!! So helpful!". . . (10/6/22) - "Tammie runs a top notch lay over . Embarrassingly, I knocked my trailer off it’s block and Tammie’s husband came to my recuse. Sincerely, will continue to call Gemstone Stables on my travels South.". . . (4/26/23) - "Such a lovely place! Tammie was extremely nice and helpful, stalls with paddock were generous in size, fresh water, and very clean. Easy in and out with the trailers made our stay very comfortable. 5 out of 5 stars! Will definitely revisit when traveling."

Comments: (Editor's Comments): The following, undated reviews were included with the initial listing by the facility owner.
"Amazing trails, beautiful facility, clean & comfortable lodging. A fun experience for equestrians of any age. House we stayed in was very private with lovely views.". . . "Gracious, helpful hosts; impeccably maintained house, barn, and trails; great footing on the trails and views are spectacular....peaceful, cozy getaway!". . . "The absolute best spot in Maryland and probably a few other states for a horse and rider getaway. The views are absolutely spectacular and it's so quiet and tucked away. The owners are so friendly and accommodating. The trails are in the best shape I have ever ridden." Named a "Favorite Horsey Spot in Maryland" by "The Equiery" magazine, June 2019).

(1/26/22) - "Kathy was very accommodating. Be prepared to show Coggins, sign release forms, have your own water buckets, feed pans/buckets, bucket clips, hay, extra shavings, and allow enough time to clean out stalls before departure. Very well lit and secure. We have a very long trailer and we were able to get turned around fairly easy. If you stay at their "Cow Barn" there aren't bathrooms facilities during the winter (out house is winterized). $25/night per horse and per person if you stay in your living quarters.". . . (8/21/23) - "Very wonderful place and the most friendly host you will ever find. Recommend to anyone and we will be back."

Comments: (7/13/10) - "2 horses, 2 dogs - as usual. This must be over a dozen round trip stop overs for us. I couldn't do the NH to NC trip without this visit where we all can relax and recover. Thank you, and see you on the return trip.". . . (10/23/10) - "Thank you, Ted and JoAnn, for the comforts of home and the O-Dark-30 breakfast on my Horse Trials Day. Only hose people understand horse people and that deep bed of straw for my super star pony sure melted my heart! I'll be back for sure.". . . (11/7/10) - "What a great night & place to stop for our horses! We'll be back in May and again in November! We have found our regular stop during our yearly migration to NC and VT.". . . (6/3/11) - "We had a great stay once again and the horses enjoyed it, too. Thank you for arranging for the farrier to come out on short notice." . . . (10/21/11) - "As ever, the highlight of our trip east for the Christmas holidays! Thanks for the toasty room, the wonderful breakfast and the friendship!". . . (10/22/11) - "We had a great time staying with you. - rooms and stalls were perfect, the breakfasts excellent. Thank you so much for a lovely weekend!". . . (1/7/12) - "60 degrees, clear skies, full moon, light traffic, beautiful room, and spacious stall for my horse. What a delightful place to rest. 400 miles behind us and 400 tomorrow. See you in April!". . . (8/9/12) - "Thank you again for everything you and Ted did for all of us during our stay. Everyone had such a great time and definitely want to come back again.". . . (7/2/16) - "It's not fancy, but the B&B facility makes this location very convenient to overnight. While it is freeway close, it does not feel like it at all. They do have an indoor riding arena and I'm sure they would organize trail rides for those who wish. JoAnn writes children's books, and Ted keeps the farm. They are very kind and accommodating hosts.". . . (11/21/20) - "I cannot say enough about Ted and JoAnn Dawson and their awesome horse motel/bed & breakfast. I will try to make this long story short: Ted drove 1 ½ hours South on I-95 to pick up our horses when our trailer lost a tire. HorseMotel.com to the rescue; Ted to the rescue. The fact that they also had a beautiful Bed & Breakfast for us to stay in was just so utterly amazing and a huge relief. It had been a rainy day and night and Ted arranged our stalls in the barn. With them safely tucked away we went into town for a bite at a local restaurant recommended by Ted and JoAnn. Our room in their restored Victorian home was just what we needed. They paid attention to detail in furnishing the rooms. There was even a 'claw foot' tub in the bathroom. It was clean and cozy, just as a Bed & Breakfast in a Victorian house should be. The breakfast made by JoAnn was scrumptious and inviting. You never know when you'll find a treasure just around the corner. This place is a treasure, but also, JoAnn is a writer/actor and we just happened to see her horse series of books, so we did a little Christmas shopping. We also picked up some Christmas ornaments and books for ourselves! The story ends with another huge gesture from Ted & JoAnn … they offered to trailer our horses to Massachusetts!! We took them up on the offer, and although we did pay them for all of the trailering, I'm absolutely sure it was more hassle than it was worth. We will be back for some leisure time and trail riding in the future. Thanks guys, you are what we all should strive to be to one another, kind and gracious."
