Comments: (12/14/21) - "I am a Back Country Horseman and this is the place I would choose to board my stock. The location is PERFECT for riding the Superstition Mountain area. Liz is a perfect host. This stable is gated and very private. We used the arena as a turn out area after 3 days of trailering. My horse would stay here again. Owners are BCH members.". . . (3/23/22) - "Liz and Russ are excellent hosts. We were only planning to stay a night or two and wound up staying a whole week. The location is spectacular, right up against the Superstition Mountains! Restaurants and such are within a few miles. You can even ride your horse to one directly from the site. The facilities are nice with two full hookup slots and a place where you can dry camp like we did. We kept our horses together in a nice large turn out with shade but there are sheltered runs too. You’ll need to call to check availability of the stalls because they have a couple of boarders and their own horses to house. There are lots and lots of great trails within easy trailering distance but beware, there’s lots of cactus. Be especially careful of the Cholla!!!". . . (6/22/22) - "Great place to keep my horses! The owner was on site and even fed for me when my husband got COVID. Mare motel style barn with turnout available. At the foot of the Superstition Mtns, beautiful!". . . (12/7/23) - "I stayed at the Arizona Barn in Nov 2023 and absolutely loved it...perfect location, facilities clean and safe for my horse. I chose to rent a guest room with bath/shower and forgo staying in my trailer....but they also have amble space for a trailer with elec hookup. They offer large covered stalls, good security and wonderful hospitality!". . . (2/28/24) - "I've been meaning to post for a while--I stayed at Liz's place back in early December for one week, as I had an emergency with the place I was supposed to stay for the winter but had to leave abruptly. Liz was so gracious to take me in at the last minute, and even let me stay a week until I could make other arrangements. She has a gorgeous place, with {the} Superstition {Montains} right out the door! There's an arena and a larger area for turnout. Property is fenced. I highly recommend staying here--she does rent out to seasonal folks who were arriving later in the month, so make sure you call and check availability as it's not a large facility. Full hookups."

Comments:  (Editor's Comments): Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.)
(12/15/16) - "It was a cold and dark night when our pickup broke down in Ash Fork, Arizona. Not knowing anyone in the area, Martin and Gail came to our rescue. Martin brought his pickup to hook on to our trailer and Gail escorted us to the diesel repair shop. We spent three nights at the ranch. Our horses were in a safe and clean stall. Martin and Gail were gracious hosts who were willing to accommodate our needs. Oh, we can't leave out Jack. He is a sweet, friendly Springer Spaniel who is definitely head of ranch security.". . . (1/1/17) - "My horse and I had a wonderful overnight stay at the Shifty Jack! Martin and Gail were welcoming and wonderful hosts, and the horse care and accommodations excellent. It was a delightful and restful evening after a long day of driving. I would recommend to everyone traveling through this area. Thank you Martin and Gail, it was great to get to meet and visit with you!". . . (7/21/17) - "Great people! Very nice safe facility with kind attentive owners!". . . (3/15/18) - "We wish every horse motel was like this! Easy to get to, excellent hay and water and lots of room for the horses to stretch out - plus the nicest hosts ever. Mostly dry camping but it was immaculately clean, safe and organized. Thanks for a great and easy stay!". . . (6/6/18) - "Gail and Martin were great. They really spoiled us on our cross-counrty adventure. We stayed in the B&B inside. I was able to get up all night to check the horses. We ate dinner at LULU’s BBQ in town. It was so good that I got extra brisket for the road!!". . . (11/21/18) - "Gail and Martin were very welcoming and sweet. Felt safe leaving the horses there to go explore the Grand Canyon. If I ever go cross country again, I will certainly would stay again. The facility was spotless!". . . (3/3/19) - "Gail and Martin are the friendliest and most welcoming hosts. I've been there three times and they made me and my traveling companions feel like family. The horse facilities are fabulous. My horses had plenty of room to run, shelter if they wanted, and clean water and pens at all times. The fencing is top notch welded pipe and super safe. Two arenas and a round pen make it easy to train or exercise the horses. The horses are fed 3 times daily. Top notch accommodations for humans and horses. Highly recommended!". . . (10/18/19) - "My regular layover closed so I stayed here for the first time recently. Easy access from highway 40. Lovely couple! They greeted me immediately and allowed me to turn my horse out in the arena for a good stretch and roll before being put in a nice sized stall. Even brought a wheelbarrow to my trailer to clean it out before the next leg! I felt very safe and we had a very comfortable layover.". . . (10/9/20) - "I’ve stayed here before the change of ownership so am ecstatic the facility is still a horse motel with same high level of service. Very responsive to emails and calls, immediately met upon arrival - even with a wheelbarrow to clean the trailer interior. Helped guiding me with backing to park and hookup, and up early to personally open the gate and see me off.". . . (10/7/22) - "This is one of my favorite layovers as it’s a private family ranch. I feel super safe! They helped me unload my horses and stall them. They even turned them out separately when the pasture was available so they could stretch their legs and get a good romp after a long haul. They were so super helpful in getting my trailer cleaned out and my hay delivered to their stalls. I was quite pampered. They always help me safely back my trailer - plenty of room but extra eyes are appreciated! Loved the star filled sky and yet easy in/out and highway access.". . . (8/24/23) - "One of my favorite horse motels - fabulous family owned and run. Stayed again and had to extend my stay due to weather conditions on the route west. Allowed my horse to use the arena for turnout! Frequently get up early to see me off and open/close the gate so I don’t have to myself!"

Comments: (8/4/20) - "My mother and I are making a long haul from California to Texas. The heat wave exhausted everyone, especially my horses. I called Mrs. LaRee at 4am, AND SHE ANSWERED! She helped us get in and settled. Only a 1.5 mile off I-10 in a nice secluded area. They are working on making a cute lodging spot and had a big enough round pen for my two horses with fresh water. LaRee even offered to spray my horses down to escape this heat. What a life saver! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!". . . (5/24/21) - "Wonderful, quiet facility. Very friendly host, we were able to book the bunkhouse for 3 people and our two dogs. We enjoyed the campfire in the early morning and the bunkhouse was very clean and comfortable.". . . (2/4/22) - "Absolutely the best! Only campers there, 50 amp, water, sewer, cutestest bunkhouse ever. On the covered deck is a BBQ, 110, clean picnic table, chairs, lounge chairs. We didn’t stay in the bunkhouse, but decorated really down home and cozy. Around the yard: Fire pit, plenty of wood to collect, large corral, and another for one, horse shoes, tire swing. So private and quiet. Can accommodate a few rigs, but only one 50 amp.. And did I mention the nicest hostess in AZ, LaRee welcomes you with brochures for area “things to do,” and is so very accommodating. Highly recommend, but unfortunately, we didn’t have horses this trip, so I can’t comment on the trails, but the map showed a lot.". . . (4/2/22) - "First and foremost, this facility is remote, quiet, and has a perfect spot for a "camping style" stay. The bunkhouse was exactly what we needed, we were moving from California to Texas and had five cats and two horses. The down side. It was advertised as a "bunkhouse for 6". We assumed it had hot water and at least a shower. It doesn't. Cold water only and a toilet. The horse facilities are lacking. They have a 30 foot corral and a 8' x 8' "covered stall". The covereded stall had a large iron piece, maybe a "hitching post" that is very dangerous for a horse in that location. If you have a living quarters trailer, with your own hot water and shower, this would be an excellent out of the way camping adventure. The outdoor amenities are set up to enjoy the evenings on the covered porch, with a BBQ and fire pit. As horse hotel owners ourselves for years, we recommend that the owners set up safer 12' x 12' stalls and move the 8' x 8' stall away from the large iron piece in it. Plenty of parking and turn around for bigger rigs. It's about 2.7 miles from the freeway, most of it on a dirt road.". . . (2/4/24) - "LaRee has a great little place for an overnight or for a base to ride local area trails for a few days. We have been there twice now and will return."

Comments: (2/8/12) - "I loved staying at the Full Circle Ranch Bed and Breakfast/Horse Motel in Cave Creek, Arizona. Sherrie made my stay there with my horse more amazing than what I ever dreamed or expected--her awesome breakfasts every morning were absolutely beautiful and tasty, and something we all looked forward to every day--she is such a talented baker! Also, it was beautiful to sit at her table and look out at the beautiful pool and spa, and the peaceful surroundings. The horse stalls are huge and immaculate, as well as being very comfortable--my horse was very happy too! The trails are amazing--I stayed there for a week and found a new and exciting trail to go on every day, either along the Maricopa Trail, the Cave Creek Regional Park, or the Spur Cross Mountain Area Preserve. Everything was absolutely wonderful! I found great tranquility, peace, and much happiness staying at the Full Circle Ranch with my horse. Also, it is immaculate, warm, and inviting. I have to ment ion that the aroma of fresh-baked goodies every afternoon to come back to after trail riding was wonderful. Thank you, Sherrie, for making my horse vacation more than I ever expected it to be. I will definitely be back next year and many years to come!"

Comments: (3/25/22) - "We so enjoyed our stay with Shantel at Cave Creek Ranch! The area is top notch in all regards - proximity of TSC for feed - Walmart for groceries - and plenty of restaurants. The trails available just across the street were phenomenal. Area is very nice and the neighborhood felt safe & secure. The place is spotless - the stalls were very nice and clean - parking and turning our large rig was a breeze. Shantel helped us find our way in by phone - she was very responsive and available from the time I made my reservation until the day we checked out. You won’t be disappointed by your stay here!!!"

(Editor's Comments): Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.)
(12/6/19) - "10/10 - Would stay again. A lovely facility run by a very friendly and helpful gal. I called the day prior to needing to stop and was able to overnight my 3 horses. I didn't arrive until after 8 pm and that was not a problem. She met us as soon as we pulled up and I immediately felt worry free about leaving our four legged there. Easy to communicate with and find. Great food and lodging near by. Highly recommend.". . . (2/22/20) - "Julie was wonderful, friendly and accommodating. I had a nice outside corral for my 2 horses to stay. I wish I could've stayed to ride but it was just an overnight stay on my journey. It's just outside of town, but not inconvenient. Absolutely perfect!". . . (7/18/20) - "This was in a beautiful area of Flagstaff. The road coming in was dirt but in good shape and I didn't feel any issues pulling my 2 horse slant with LQ in or out. I did use the 4W low just when pulling onto and off of the main road but I probably didn't need it. The owners were very helpful and hospitable and the facility was very nice. Used the turnout to stretch my boy's legs after 10 hours on the road and then he was comfortable in his stall with turnout. Will definitely visit here again!". . . (6/22/21) - "We arrived in Flagstaff for an endurance ride in a massive windstorm so I bailed on camping and I was so fortunate Julia, of Summer Sage, answered my call (while she was out on a horse I think), gave us directions and instructions for our arrival. The dirt road to the stable seems long at first, but it really wasn't bad at all - maaaybe 10 or 15 minutes of slower driving from the main paved road (and I'm in a Volvo SUV with a light bumper-pull) - just look for the signs to Summer Sage. The place itself was beautiful and felt very private and safe, with the owner's home overlooking the facility. The stalls were nice and big with clean mats (I provided my own shavings), and nice runs. Water was provided, but I fed and blanketed. The arena and round pen are large with nice footing, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and the facility was well-kept. I made the drive to the barn twice a day from across down and that dirt road to the barn is easy and no problem once you've done it a couple times. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.". . . (11/22/21) - "Julie was a great hostess! The facility was really nice. We kept our horses in an arena she had on site which was perfect for us. We have been travelling 3 months with our horses and like to have them in the biggest space possible so they can play together. We were able to park our big rig without any problems. Her communication was awesome, making sure we found the place and had everything we needed. It is close to lots of things and has trails right out of the facility and State trails within a mile from the facility. We used the State trails and had 2 really nice days of riding. Her place is down a dirt road off the main road and it took us about 15 minutes to get to it, but it is nice and secluded although you can hear the interstate noise. The first night we stayed we woke up to a herd of Elk right outside our camping area. We were able to watch them graze for about 30 minutes before they moved off. There were at least 30 in the herd. What an awesome experience. I would highly recommend this place if you are passing through the area!!". . . (6/15/23) - "This is a hidden gem and a wonderful place to stay with your horses. Thank you so much, Julie, for your hospitality and great care of animals.". . . (10/29/23) - "Convenient to I-40. Hard to find, no sign at entrance, owner had to come find us and bring us in. She was gracious about it. The entrance to barn is a parking lot for the forest for hikers and bikers, after going thru the parking lot watch for very small signs. Beautiful barn and property. Try for stalls in the main barn with runs, they are the nicest ones, There are a couple of 30 amp hook ups for Lq and a couple of 110 plug ins. Water to fill your tanks but not hook up. Plenty of room for large lq trailers to turn around. There are large water troughs in the stalls which I prefer to use my own buckets, they are too large to empty so I hoped my horses drank out of their own buckets and not the troughs. Bonus, beautiful trails to ride and stretch your horses legs, we saw a herd of antelope!"

Comments: (2/19/19) - "I am ecstatic I found this location! Great for layover or extended stay. Horses have a great deal of space which makes for an incredible value. Its great to have access to a round pen and arenas to ride in. Super clean and spacious. Easy trailer manuevering! Super close to shops, restaurants and freeway.". . . (10/18/19) - "I LOVE this location because of all the amenities (I’ve been allowed to use their round pen, pasture and arena before putting my horse in a nice box stall for the night), the proximity to stores and restaurants (short walk so I don’t have to unhook), and the responsive and friendly host. Being on the west side of Phoenix I miss a lot of traffic heading westbound in the morning. Stayed both directions this trip (inbound and outbound).". . . (1/6/20) - "What can I say that the others reviewers haven't said? The hosts were great, very friendly and accommodating. The facility was very nice, a variety of options for stabling for your horse, very clean. Very close to other amenities like food and lodging. Safe, secure, and quiet.". . . (1/11/20) - "This place is amazing!!! Everything it says and more, an oasis for your horse after a long haul. The pens and paddocks are immaculately clean. Huge grazing paddock area, automatic waterer! Host is amazing and very kind. Close to great food choices. Ability to park your trailer right by your horses' outdoor pen. We WILL be back!!!". . . (2/23/21) - "Great place to stop with out a doubt. Close to all sorts of human stuff (gas, food, etc ) as well as horse stuff as well ( bales, horse supply and tractor supply). Super easy to get into with a big rig ( we’re almost 60’ ). Just far enough off the highway to not hear traffic, but only a mile; so super easy on /off. Also, Tom was super helpful. We will stay here again.". . . (6/15/23) - "This is my favorite westbound layover as it’s west of Phoenix so minimal traffic on departure. Love the proximity (just over a half mile) to restaurants and Walmart yet secluded, private and safe. Super helpful host!"

Comments: (11/7/23) - "This was a gem to find for weary travelers. The downside is that it is located 2.5 miles down a dirt road, but it’s not a bad one. The plus side is that it is located out and away from noise, hustle and bustle. The pens that my horses stayed in were 14' x 55' and were in sound condition. I pushed my horses an extra 1.5 hours after rejecting the original destination. So glad I did. The host here had my pens ready and clean water waiting for my horses. I will definitely stay again.". . . (12/1/23) - "Owner, Chuck, was great, and the ranch manager, Dean, was awesome. Nice location in Holbrook, AZ, off of Interstate 40. Access road to the facility was a little bumpy, but take your time, and no problem. Will definitely use this facility the next time we need something in this area!!". . . (12/19/23) - "Host was fantastic to speak with over the phone. Directions were accurate, it’s a long dirt road to get to the ranch but once you’re there, it’s beautiful and peaceful. The on site ranch hand was there to greet us and was very helpful and friendly. Our stay was restful and horses were happy!"

Comments: (5/19/17) - "There could not be a more convenient place for a horse motel in Kingman! It's right off of I-40. Nice covered pipe corrals. Clean water troughs. RV hook ups right there. Walk to a restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will stay here again.". . . (10/22/17) - "I travel a lot as a single female with my horses. I traveled from Colorado to California a lot and made full use of this nice facility including the bunk house. Very welcoming and safe, relaxing and secure, clean with a place to let my dog out to run in a pen. GREAT RATES too.". . . (5/2/18) - "Great place. Be sure to ask before taking a shower so you have hot water. Round pen, stalls, and turn outs; also a dog run. Very accommodating, friendly people.". . . (7/29/18) - "My favorite horse motel!!! Very accommodating! Easy access for large rigs. Nice pipe stalls. Walk to food!! Full hook ups with electric, sewer and water. Propane fill up. Super clean! Managers were amazing!". . . (8/5/18) - "Owners were very accommodating and friendly. Plenty of room for the whole family (2 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 3 horses). 5 stars!". . . (11/22/19) - "Nice and clean. Close at 6pm. If traveling late contact them before 6pm AZ time.". . . (7/18/20) - "I would give this place and Jeff, the on-site manager, an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10! We found ourselves needing a place to stay before the desert given the high winds forecasted so we called and made reservations. Good thing we called when we did as the person explained they had to close the office early because of COVID. The park was well equiped. Jeff was so helpful, getting our propane tanks filled (the dealership had not filled them and so this was the 'shake-down' cruise for the trailer) Being a newbie to RVs/trailers with Living quarters, there was so much I didn't know. Jeff helped with our hookups and made sure us gals were all taken care of. Loved, loved, loved that the RV site was a pull through - no backing up!!! My horse was very comfortable in the turnout and his covered outdoor stall. Some RV patrons came by to visit and admire our horse and that was nice. I would highly recommend this facility! Note - bring your own food for meals or go into Kingsman to eat. There is a truckstop with a restaurant just outside the gates otherwise - with food that is ok.". . . (7/23/21) - "Made a last minute decision to stay here rather than drive straight to Flagstaff. Unfortunately, since it was already 5pm, there was no way to contact anyone. We have a bumper pull and would have loved to stay at the bunkhouse, which said "self checkin" online, but fortunately we waited until we showed up before booking anything, because there would have been no way to "self check-in" to the locked bunkhouse had we reserved online. There was an RV spot that we paid for (though we only had an SUV so didn't use any hookups), and the stall was nice. However, again, all the amenities - including restroom and shower - were locked and not available to someone who does self-checkin without a prior reservation (we had to use the Shell station down the road as a restroom, or a bush). The covered stall was nice and the place is clean, so we would stay there again, but I wish there would have been some way for walk-in folks without self-contained RVs to use the bathroom at minimum - but we didn't see any instructions on the cute (but locked) main office building, nor an indication that there was an on-site host anywhere. So, for those who pop in after hours (i.e. late afternoon) without a reservation, plan accordingly."

Comments: (11/11/18) - "We had the pleasure of staying with Garret just this week. Our pickup experienced some scary symptoms on our way North on Hgway 17 and it was just wonderful to drive the short distance to Clover Farm and unhook with our horses in a safe place. Garret made us and our three dogs more than welcome and our two geldings enjoyed the freedom \of the small pasture. An added benefit was the proximity of the Maricopa Trail which was down the street and connects many of the open areas over its 300 mile loop. We got the truck straightened out and proceeded west to Wickenburg. Thanks for the layover!

Comments: (6/18/22) - "Wonderful place to overnight or spend several days. Jean is helpful and knowledgeable. Facilities are clean and comfortable. Great riding out. I’ll be back!". . . (11/26/23) - "What kind and accommodating people! We were a late night arrival and yet they were right there to help us get moved in and settled…the horses were comfortable and safe. Would certainly return. The guest house was adorable and well appointed.". . . (1/8/24) - "Nothing but good things to say about this facility. We got in kind of late but (and I believe it was Jean) was very accommodating and understanding. Facilities were very clean and safe, my horse was secure for the night and I had no worries. Typically while traveling, my horse won't eat but she ate her full meal and drank through the night. The stay the following night my horse was not happy and refused to eat for the rest of the trip so I was thankful she had had a good night with Windrush."

(3/30/13) - "We enjoyed 2 visits in March, 2013 and the hosts were wonderful -- very helpful & knowledgeable -- they made every aspect of our visits enjoyable. The round pen and arena are both kept up very well & we really appreciated trail rides including one to the Verde River. Views to the mountains from our campsite were beautiful and we both enjoyed riding in the washes and on nearby dirt roads. We're looking forward to visiting again next year!". . . (4/14/13) - "My husband and I stayed at the Lost Cowboy Ranch for nine weeks and it was a wonderful experience. The Bowers were great hosts and helped us out with exploring the surroundings and getting around the area. We will be returning next year and would definitely recommend a stay at Lost Cowboy Ranch for a week, or months. Great for your horses as well. Always kept clean and stalls were sizeable, plus the arena and of course, the roping and sorting was a lot of fun. Neighbors were so friendly and helpful, too. Loved it there.". . . (12/12/13) - "Thank you for your dog-friendly welcome. Even with our "old guys" needing to work out some "discussions" all went smoothly as your attitude and calm assurance that "dogs usually work these things out" made our stay especially easy to enjoy all other fun activities. Well see you agin in Feb 2014.". . . (1/20/14) - "Great place to stay. The owners were very helpful and responded to any questions or concerns. Very clean and well kept. Susan took us out on trail and showed us some great rides. There is also lots of riding right from the ranch. Lots of space per campsite which is a real plus compared to some locations. Pens were secure and well designed.". . . (2/10/14) - "Had a wonderful time here and am coming back next year.". . . (2/12/14) - "Great place, friendly hosts, wonderful trails right out of the driveway. Loved it, will be back.". . . (4/4/14) - "Please see additional comments on FB. This was a wonderful place to stay, so much so we intend to re-visit next year. These proprietors aim to please in every way to make the visit comfortable, safe, and enjoyable.". . . (4/6/15) - "Lost Cowboy Ranch" ....could just as well be named, "Love Thy Neighbor Ranch." When we fist came across this horse motel, we puzzled over the name. Wanting to "get lost" for a while ourselves (especially from the frigid temperatures of a Minnesota winter), we made reservations. From the first contact by email, the impression was that of warmth and hospitality that has not changed in the 2 seasons we have camped at LCR. Arrive lost and leave found--new acquaintances, warm relationships, lasting friendships..it is a progressive story that unfolds with each lost cowboy (girl) who embraces this adventure. Added attractions are the beautiful scenery God has created there, ride to the river or to Granite Mountain or...possibilities are endless. All this in an atmosphere of peace, safety and trust. Team sorting is another event that takes place at scheduled times..fun for the participant as well as the observer. You will not be sorry you chose this location.". . . (2/16/16) - "This is a regular and favorite stop for us... Hosts are as welcoming and friendly as anyone we have ever met.... Quiet nights and dark sky's....They are often full so book early and enjoy their hospitality and knowledge.". . . (2/16/18) - "Susan and Brian are wonderful hosts at this great horse motel. They have extensive knowledge of the area and are excellent at showing their guests around the area. The campfires are awesome. This is a very good place to trail ride right from the ranch. Arena ground is excellent. Super!!". . . (3/9/22) - "All of the above, plus warm friendly, safe atmosphere. A definite good choice."

(3/31/14) - "Words can't begin to describe this beautiful ranch! Hosts Carmela & Joe provide a desert paradise for their guests. A group of us occupied the trailer sites and bunkhouse. Sites were roomy and near the barns. The bunkhouse is gorgeous and far larger than it appears in the photos. The barns, stalls & runs are as immaculately maintained as the rest of the property. The riding is spectacular and Joe provided us with directions and descriptions of various trails which are all accessed from the ranch. We had only one complaint . . . We wished we could have stayed longer!!". . . (9/6/14) - "What a wonderful retreat! I was traveling for work with my horses and dogs. Rio Rancho Verde was the perfect home away from home. Accommodations for myself and my four legged family was most comfortable. The stables provided ample stalls and turn out area. For the dogs, there was a nicely fenced kennel along the side of the casita. Very quiet and private. I will certainly stay again! Carmela and Joe were excellent hosts and lets not forget Alex who was most helpful at the stables.". . . (2/12/15) - "Great location, semi-remote (good!), great hosts, lovely facilities, friendly dog (Gracie).". . . (2/28/15) - "I had a wonderful stay at Rio Rancho Verde. The place was spotless. Joe and Carnella were great hosts. Great trails. I highly recommend their facility and I will be planning another outing there in the near future.". . . (3/1/15) - "We had an absolutely fabulous stay with wonderful hosts who could not have been more accommodating, as well as all the other people staying there! The scenery was breathtaking with endless hiking trails and astounding sunrise and sunset views. We don't have horses but so enjoyed our time there that we already have plans to return. We stayed in their RV trailer which was more than sufficient, tho may stay in a bedroom or bunkhouse next time. We look forward to returning!!". . . (12/25/15) - "Absolutely above and beyond our greatest expectations. Could not have asked for anything more. Hospitality was second to none and in an unbelievable setting. I promise you will be satisfied to say the least if you use this facility!!!!". . . (2/20/18) - "Such a wonderfuk place and experience! I highly recommend it!". . . (2/28/18) - "I just LOVE to write about Rio Rancho Verde. When we arrived, hosts Carmella and Joe, were ready to help get us get settled into our space (lots of room between RV spaces), and get the horses to their corrals (nice and close to our LQ trailer!). RRV is such an enchanting resort setting. The grounds are pristine and beautifully landscaped, and the artwork around the property really gives it that special AZ resort feel. Riding from RRV, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve is only a few minutes away. 'Captivating' is the only way to describe it. Miles and miles of meandering trails, striking vistas, and in some of the most beautiful desert you'll see in Arizona. We're already planning our return to RRV.". . . (3/27/18) - "Great hosts, gorgeous ranch and views, amazing riding in Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preseve!" (4/5/18) - "Lovely facility. Large preserve with well marked trails right next door. There are acres upon acres of National Forest leading to the Wild Horses of the Salt River." . . . (1/9/19) - "We loved staying here and plan to visit annually. Joe & Carmela were very accommodating and it was the most beautiful place we've camped thus far. The trails are close and incredibly beautiful.". . . (3/15/20) - "We loved our stay at this facility. Campground is immaculate and well appointed. Horse stalls are generous in size, clean and safe. Manure is hauled away every day. The owners, Joe and Carmela, are very helpful from helping you park your rig to describing riding options and local shopping and restaurants and amenities around the campground. There are plenty of ways to exercise your horse including turnout, round pen and large arena. The views are spectacular. Other campers were very friendly and Joe and Carmela go out of their way to make sure you and your horse are comfortable. We enjoyed our stay so much we signed up to come back next year. Highly recommend Rio Rancho Verde.". . . (12/26/20) - "We can’t say enough great things about this amazing desert oasis! From the casita to the corrals, everything was perfect! Ride out the gate to awesome trails! Close enough to go shopping in Scottsdale or just enjoy the gorgeous scenery at the ranch. The owners are fabulous!". . . (12/9/21) - "Great people, awesome hosts, freindly down to earth. Nice stalls."

Comments: (12/14/20) - "Cowboy Doug is an amazing host!! He met us upon arrival to show us to our horse's stall, then brought us to the Hideout Room and showed us the rest of the facility. He also made himself available to take us on an introductory ride up to Ed Schieffelin's monument and give the history. He then met us in Tombstone the next day to take photos of our group. VERY affordable and well worth the stay, IMO!! Loved it here and will definitely be back.". . . (3/16/23) - "Cowboy Doug is an amazing host. Facilities were clean and ready for us. Lots of area to ride in. Sad we only had 2 nights there. Will go back and have no problem recommending the facility for your stay.". . . (2/29/24) - "Great place! Clean and friendly!"

Comments: (3/4/02) - "These folks were the kind you'd like to have for neighbors, friendly and helpful. Big, clean pens for the horses, a nice arena or miles of desert for riding.". . .(5/21/02) - "We had a wonderful stay. Nice facilities, easy access from I-10, and easy to find. Be prepared to spend some time with Stewart and Betsy. They are as friendly and as nice as can be. Great hosts. Small motel nearby and a nice local cafe with good food and great pie.". . .(12/21/02) - "Stewart was great, even though we called him Steve! Treated us like friends. Stewart is retired & involved heavily in roping, with a lot of other retired folks nearby. Wish we could have stayed for a demo. Hope to stop there again.". . . (2/17/03) - "Betsy and Stewart are very warm and friendly and are extremely accommodating. They made our time with them very fun and relaxing. We never had a single worry about our RV or our horses. They were always willing to help with anything we needed and the facilities are clean and well kept. I would highly recommend them to anyone.". . .(8/16/03) - "Our first experience at a horse motel was excellent due to the host and hostess. Thank you.". . .(1/14/06) - "Stewart and Betsy made our last minute stay at their place very helpful and homely. Stewart gave great directions to his facility and was more than helpful to get us settled in for the night. It made our move to Florida a bit more stressfree. Thanks again Stewart.". . . (6/4/10) - "Stewart and Betsy are AWESOME! Very friendly and accomodating. We came in rather late in the evening, but no worries. They made sure we were well taken care of before they turned in. We needed their smiles after an exhausting day!". . . (5/21/12) - "We echo the comments of all who posted here. We definitely appreciated the welcome and the cold beverage. They had us set up right next to their house with full hook-up and Rio had a good night's sleep as well. The next morning we enjoyed coffee with Betsy & Stewart before we hit the road to our end destination. We definitely recommend their facility for overnight and longer if you've a mind to stay. We wish them luck in their endeavor and will stay again. Definitely will be sharing their location for all who might be traveling their way.". . . (1/5/14) - "We were traveling from East TX back to CA and wanted to break up the trip for both us and our horse. We also wanted to be on the west side of Phoenix to make the drive through Riverside and LA easier the next day. Stewart was very accommodating and returned our phone call within minutes (even though he was busy with roping!). His facility is close to Interstate 10, but could be a little difficult to find if after sunset. Even though we got there before dark, Stewart drove out to meet us just to be sure! He is just a delight, full of stories and knows his horses! The stalls are more than adequate and very clean! If you have a rig, there are hookups available just a few steps from your horse. We look forward to seeing Stewart again on our next trip through AZ.". . . (3/18/16) - "Very welcoming host. Came in at night the first time and he was waiting for me at the entrance and it was very nice to have someone there after a long days travel. The horse had water waiting in her pen. He had me follow him on his ATV and showed me exactly where to park to hook up. He lost his wife to cancer a few years back so he is running the place without her now. Your horse and a nice outdoor arena are within 100 feet of where your trailer is. There are nice RV pads with electricity, water, and sewer at each one. Easy turnaround."

Comments: (2/26/18) - "Laura was a lovely host. - full of personality and hospitality! She opened up her home to us, and made us feel very welcome. Laura was very helpful and accommodating of my entire travel group - horse, friend and little dog - who all got to stay on premises. In the morning we had breakfast and coffee which was very much appreciated! Although the location is a bit off the main route, the scenery and hospitality were well worth it! My only caution is that the last road/driveway to her place is a dirt road with potholes and no signs. Driving slowly and doing it during the day and following her specific directions are paramount. This is a true hidden gem for any traveler!". . . (3/18/18) - "The China Cabinet Ranch was our first stop on our trek from Topanga, Ca to Punta Gorda, Fl. We had a really hard first day and arrived at the ranch well after dark. My Mustang had somehow fallen down in the trailer and was stuck. Laura was so fast to respond I really believe she and her friends saved her life. After such a traumatic evening we decided to stay on an extra day. This was the best decision we could have made. Laura was such a gracious host. We really enjoyed getting to know her and spending time relaxing at her beautiful desert oasis. Laura is one of the kindest, most interesting people you’ll ever meet and the ranch is a MUST for anyone traveling through Arizona!". . . (10/15/18) - "Laura and her mom were amazing! We got in late and they were very accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the stalls clean! In the morning we realized we’d gotten a flat tire on our utility trailer, Laura took me to town to get a new tire. They are wonderful! We will be recommending them to anyone who asks!"

Comments: (1/31/13) - "Despite a challenging location for the first drive into the facility, the hosts were very kind and helpful. We set up camp near our horses and had a lovely ride in the desert that made our cross country trip memorable. Thank you for a lovely stay!". . . (1/7/15) - "Fabulous HorseMotel, beautiful trails right off the property. Plenty of room for the living quarters horse trailer to camp & admirer the view. Lou & Pam were fantastic hosts. We will definitely come again. Thank you! Eddie & Sherry Lovin.". . . (10/27/17) - "A friend had stayed at the Rocking M and recommended it. She was right; Lou and everyone were nice, friendly and helpful. The facility was nice and clean and safe for my horse. I stayed here twice in 2 weeks, going and coming home. Thanks for everything Lou!". . . (11/25/18) - "Nice quiet place to stay....easy to get to...friendly owners....would stay here again.". . . (11/25/18) - "I would stay here again in a heart beat and highly recommend this facility to others. Easy to get to, generous parking geared for LQ trailers. Louis was friendly, helpful and has a great sense of humor. Everything was neat and tidy; private yet close to stores, restaurants etc.". . . (12/15/20) - "We had planned to stay at Rocking M with a late night arrival. The host went as far to make a video and send to us to show where to put the horses etc. We were not able to make the miles after a trailer tire blowout. I called back and told him we were not able to make it and he was appreciative of the call. Was very impressed with the Rockin M Ranch although we never made it."

Her knowledge of the area for trail riding is great and can give you plenty of recommendations. I plan to stay here when ever I’m in Tucson again.". . . (12/24/23) - "Courtney was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! She responded within minutes !! The property was in mint condition and everything was a positive experience. I drove from TX to Las Vegas and stopped at her place on the way with a buddy and two horses. On the way back we even left the horses there a couple days and she fed them for us. Courtney scrubbed the water tubs and had the pens clean. I would highly recommend this place !!!!"

Comments: (5/9/22) - "Amanda and husband were very welcoming and went out of their way to get some specific hay for us and our 25 year old mare. Checked up on us and offered help whenever we needed it. Facility was very clean and secure and it was obvious they cared. Highly recommend.". . . (5/9/22) - "One of the nicest places we've stayed, nationwide! Gated property is very quiet and the horse facility is outstanding! Water tubs had been disinfected prior to our arrival and pens were clean! Stayed in our horse trailer, but the casita looked inviting! Thanks, Amanda!". . . (1/4/23) - "Very clean and private facility. Just off the freeway, easy to access and is a gated facility. Amanda was very welcoming and an excellent hostess. Stalls were clean and very secure. I enjoyed my stay here. Thank you.". . . (5/15/23) - "Loreana Ranch was our first stop (4/29/23) on our cross country moving trip with our three horses. Amanda and her husband met us upon arrival and helped us figure out everything, as this was our first horse motel experience ever. We cannot say enough about their hospitality and friendliness. They were super responsive to any of our concerns (we had one older horse post-op who needed a little special care). We felt our horses were safe in their runs/pens. Nice, big runs with heavy duty panels, quarter covers, great footing, lighting was great as we got there later than anticipated. Arena was a great benefit. We had three large vehicles all pulling trailers and the property accommodated them all with a nice drive through. Human accommodations were excellent, had everything we needed, what a relief. We wish we had time to linger here. Gorgeous AZ springtime night sky too!"

Comments: (5/18/20) - "Very friendly and attentive host. Clean and pretty farm. Stalls spacious, nice fenced and groomed arena. No hookups, only 20 amp AC (will need to run generator for Air Conditioning). Water available. Overall fine overnight stop. Recommended.". . . (2/25/21) - "McClure Ranch was very accommodating. My one mare is blind and the facility had large enough pens that she could stay in with one of my other horses for security. The facility was clean and well maintained. The only drawback for us was the rooster on the property. If you aren’t staying at the ranch that wouldn’t be a problem. We stayed there in our RV, no hookups, but that was fine, and the rooster started up around 3:30 am. Overall it was a very positive experience and my horses were comfortable there."(2/15/22) - "Super friendly host! Was very kind and let us know we were more than welcome to use their facilities. Good sized arena and round pen and clean facility. Took very good care of animals. Definitely will be returning when we come back to the area!". . . (3/24/22) - "Jean was the perfect host, perfect place to lay up for a few days.". . . (3/16/23) - "A little oasis in the desert. Our Canadian horses were very happy to see grass/trees after the desert. Clean, well run, easy to get to. Close to the Yuma fairgrounds for those coming to Rodeo. We wanted to go to Mexico and had no issues leaving our horses when we left as they were safe and secure. Wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay again. Jean provides excellent care."
