Comments: (Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.) (6/5/24) - "I cannot say enough great things about this facility and Carl. Very easy on and off the main highway and owner was very careful to make sure directions were spelled out to a T and we knew the lay of the land. We opted for a paddock - it was large with fresh water, secure fencing and was well mowed. Parking the trailer was easy with plenty of room to pull around and unload and the main gate was closed overnight so felt very safe and comfortable unhitching. Where my compliments and gratitude continue, comes from when things with my two geldings didn’t go quite as planned - one refused to load when we were scheduled to depart and being alone and away from home, naturally it added tremendous stress to my long journey; Carl offered suggestions and allowed me to use additional areas of the property to work my boy until he loaded (a day and a half later). He called around to find additional hands from fellow equestrians to veterinarians and was never far to lend a helping hand - being solo on a 20 hour journey, his careful consideration of my situation is arguably the biggest reason for my positive feedback and why I will recommend Goose Creek Farm to everyone I know who is passing through the area. Thank you so much Carl.". . . (10/21/24) - "Carl was super attentive to ALL OUR NEEDS!! The horses were well taken care of. They loved all the fresh, green grass and had full bellies when we came to get them. The hotels and restaurants are near by. All was super convenient and we had a great experience.". . . (1/31/25) - "Beautiful, big pastures with run in shed. Would highly recommend laying over here. Owner was so helpful and attentive. Horses loved it, which is what matters. Thank you.". . . (5/8/25) - "I travel up and down the east coast twice per year, and have stayed at many horse motels over the years. Goose Creek Farm is by far the best farm I have stayed at! It is right off 81, it has great directions to the farm. The owner, Carl, is very attentive and wants your stay to be nothing short of excellent! My horses were turned out into lovely paddocks, pull in and out with the trailer was easy. Within about 4 miles are a good selection of hotels and eateries. I highly recommend Goose Creek Farm and will be staying here from now on for my layovers from NY to Florida and back!!". . . (5/9/25) - "We have stayed here a few times, and each time is just as great as the last! Carl is great with horses and always makes sure my horse feels at home. His pastures are beautiful and his farm is very neat. We stay here each time we travel!". . . (5/31/25) - "Goose Creek Farm is absolutely horse heaven. Carl, the owner, greeted us at the gate to guide us in. He had a beautiful pasture cut and ready for my horses and was up and ready at 5:30am the next day for our departure! Carl was extremely communicative and accommodating and I would absolutely recommend this little slice of paradise to anyone needing a rest stop for their horses!". . . (5/31/25) - "Goose Creek Farm was a great overnight stop for our horses. They had green pasture to graze on and the owner, Carl, was great. He greeted us at the gate upon arrival and asked us what time we needed him to be available in the morning for our departure. I can't say enough good things about the whole experience and would absolutely recommend Goose Creek Farm to anyone needing an overnight stop for their horses.". . . (7/8/25) - "Had a fantastic overnight at Goose Creek Farm on 7/6/2025. Conveniently only 2 miles off the highway (I- 81). Beautiful and secure grass paddocks (we did not use stalls). Host Carl was very communicative and made sure we got in without an issue. Water troughs were filled and even wheel barrow and manure fork ready to go to clean out trailers upon arrival. Will absolutely be stopping here again.". . . (8/28/25) - "Nice place to stay, Carl helped us park and get back out onto the road since I’m driving a big rig. Had a nice big paddock for my two horses. I would definitely stay here again." |

Comments: (3/11/25) - "Bill really is the best! From the moment we stepped foot onto Lake Prince Farm, we felt right at home. It was an absolute godsend, finding a place like his that could accommodate our large group and provide us with a safe space for our horse friends. It was wonderful being able to turn the horses out in a field to let them roll and stretch out after our long haul and subsequent days of riding. The stalls were large and comfortable for the horses and Bill was an incredible host. I loved seeing his well cared for saddlebreds, and hope that we can come back so I can learn more about them as Bill is obviously an expert. Thank you again for giving us a stress-free vacation!" |

Comments: (10/20/04) - "Thanks for a great time! Clean barn and turnout area. Hotels and food were within 5 min. drive. May I suggest a bed & breakfast? I think your response would be great! Highly recommended facility.". . .(12/4/04) - "Great place - I've arrived at all hours of the morning and they have been very welcoming.". . .(10/10/05) - "Mike & Vicki are very friendly and extremely knowledgable about horses. I was amazed at the level of care they provided for our 'girls' during our relocation from California to the Richmond, VA area. I highly recommend this facility!". . .(12/9/05) - "Great people, they checked on my nervous horse several times during the night and moved him to the round pen once it was clear he wasn't happy in the stall. Clean and safe. Highly recommend for anyone traveling.". . .(12/13/05) - "One of my horses was injured during the few hours of turnout and they were very, very helpful in getting him to cross ties (very lame) and calling the vet and offering for me to stay as long as I needed.". . .(10/15/06) - "{The owners} were wonderful hosts and extremely accommodating.". . . (10/30/08) - "We stayed w/Mike & Vicki last year on Christmas week (Dec 22nd) and our experience was beyond belief. A FIRST CLASS operation and people who run it! No hesitiation about staying there again, IN FACT we just scheduled another stay for next month! Thanks again Mike & Vicki.". . . (11/5/09) - "A Super overnight stop, Mike and Vickie are very accommodating. We've stayed many times, it's easy to get to and always great.". . . . . . (10/23/16) - " We were thrilled with our stay at Rockin K while on route from Ontario to Florida! Vicki and Mike were so awesome and helpful. We stayed in our trailer so we really enjoyed the wonderful "people" space with BBQ, tables and western decor. It was almost like a private outdoor living room. A very welcome relax after a couple of days on the road. The horse accommodations were fantastic with a spacious stall and a large outdoor ring where my mare could run and stretch her legs after a long day in the trailer. We have stayed at many horse motels over the last few years and Rockin K will now be one of our faves. Thanks again Vicki and Mike!". . . .(10/24/16) - "Couldn't say enough! Hospitality was wonderful! Very clean and highly recommend. We arrived around 9 p.m. and mike helped us get things going and made us feel at home! Vicki kept in touch with me on arriving! Thankyou again!!!" |

Comments: (4/9/12) - "Awesome place to stay! Horse had a huge paddock and our human lodgings were great. Wonderful house and amenities. Cheese and Crackers at check-in and absolutely delicious breakfast in the morning. Would def. stay there again....a little off the beaten path, but totally worth stopping!". . . (10/15/13)- "A very welcoming setting! We arrived late due to truck issues earlier in the day, and the manager had snacks and drinks waiting for us, and the stalls were all ready and waiting for our horses! A very comfortable stay for all!!" |

Comments: (2/19/14) - "We stayed an extra day because we felt so comfortable here! They had a great hook up for the RV right next to the covered outdoor riding ring and the barn was also very close so my horse was never far from my sight. When we decided to stay an extra day, the owners gave a large acre plus pasture to let my horse relax and enjoy some leg stretching frolicking. We will absolutely call on them again when we travel through VA!". . . (4/2/14) - "Amanda and her husband were awesome! Loved the farm and you cannot find nicer, kinder, more helpful people!". . . (5/31/14) - "The cabin and horse facilities were wonderful. Amanda and David were very accommodating. Very convenient and we will definitely stay there again.". . . (10/24/14) - "I stayed here twice and the facilities were exceptional. The hosts were both friendly and helpful. My horse was happy in the lovely, clean stall that was ready for him and he enjoyed turnout in the covered arena and also in a grass paddock. There was ample room for a big rig. The apartment was immaculate and had every convenience. I will definitely stay here again if I am in the area.". . . (10/16/15) - "Wonderful facility and Amanda & Dave are terrific hosts. Loved our layover at Lazy Acres and plan to make it our destination next year. My horse was so comfortable and relaxed there. Great experience!". . . (10/19/17) - "Everything was as advertised, host was friendly and helpful. Stalls were large, safe, bedded, and water in stalls. Hay was available. They let us use their arena to turn out horses to run around. Parking was level and easy in and out for 38' trailer. Truck Stop nearby to fuel up before continuing. Would stay again.". . . (3/13/18) - "Amanda and David are amazing and are always very helpful when we are driving by. We use them every time on our way to and from Florida. We have used many layovers and this is the best by far.". . . (4/15/18) - "Lazy Acres exceeded all expectations. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. We loved the cozy cabin which was within walking distance from the barn. The stalls were safe, spacious and ready upon arrival. Our ponies were so happy here. We have already booked our next stay! Thank you again, David and Amanda!". . . (2/23/20) - "I have utilized this farm as a layover twice in the past year. David greets us on arrival every visit. The facility is always clean and tidy. Being very particular on care of my horses, I've been very pleased and sleep well the nights they are in David's care.". . . (8/8/21) - "Excellent in every way. Would recommend and definitely stay there again.". . . (11/4/21) 0- "Stayed at Lazy Acres Farm on my way back from Tennessee. We had 2 horses and 2 Living Quarters. The horses were able to go out in a grass pasture and then were brought in to stalls at night. Stalls were clean. The owners were very helpful. The barn has a bathroom and a shower - didn't use due to availability of our own bathrooms. Level areas for Living Quarters and easy access to Rte. 81. Quiet farm with nice views. Also has cabins for rent but didn't use so won't review. Has one 30 amp outlet and then the rest are regular outlets so bring an adapter.". . . (8/22/22) - "This place was my first experience in needing to travel the distance that we did and was our first stop. They were great and very accommodating to a nervous first-time traveler. Thanks again.". . . (1/14/25) - "Loved my stay here. Stayed twice on my way down south and back. Would 100% recommend." |

Comments: (8/24/16) - I stayed here in April, sorry this is so late. I can not say enough for staying at this place. What a wonderful host; arrived very late and we were greeted as soon as we drove in, all exterior lights on. Stall was huge and barn is very airy. Beautiful, comfortable studio to stay in. The quiche was an unexpected BONUS! Thank You." |

Comments: (Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.) (5/19/25) - "Above and beyond! Nicest horse motel I've stayed at so far (I've been traveling full-time for 2 1/2 months). Ike accommodated my short, 2-hour notice, gave perfect directions and even put air in my tire before I left. The views from this hill-top property are breathtaking. The big, modern barn has double-sized stalls and turn-out with lush, healthy pasture grass. The guest shower is clean and the TV gets a dozen stations. The thriving town of Marion has it all: Tractor Supply, choice of grocery stores, several nice (non-chain) restaurants including my favorite, the Downtown Pioneer, for breakfast. Ridgeway Belgians is 10 minutes from Hungry Mother State Park, 15 minutes from an Appalachian Trail head and close enough to several popular horse trailheads. Farms are typically on the outskirts of town and therefore cannot be expected to be withing walking distance of, well, anything. This farm is about as close to everything as one could expect a farm to be. And the view. Just, wow. Say, "Hi" to Ike for me! Best, Berly.". . . (5/27/25) - "We have stayed at Ridgeway Belgians 3 times now and the first 2 times were overnight stays and the last time we stayed for 3 days. Ike let us use his large, 2 horse bumper pull so we were able to ride at the Virginia Creeper Trail which was about 35 minutes away from his place. We also rode on the Virginia Highland Trail, which was about 30 minutes away. Ike has always been very accommodating to ours and our horses' needs. We would highly recommend Ridgeway Belgians if you are traveling with your horses in the western part of Virginia.".. . (6/19/25) - "I can't say enough nice things about Ike and his facility. Stalls are big, everything is clean, and Ike wentway above and beyond to help us when we had truck trouble. I would recommend this to anyone traveling that way. You won't be disappointed!". . . (9/22/25) - "Mr. Ike is positively the kindest host around there. More than accommodating, he really makes you feel like you're home. My trailer alone is 53ft so a lot of places cannot fit me in easily and I get super nervous about it at times. Mr. Ike said oh yeah you can fit it will be tight for a minute but I'll be right there guiding. I knew then I would be ok. I could fit and made my way. The stalls are so nice and roomy. Great water. A separate bath room and shower are on site. Rv hookups right by the barn. Sweet cats to check all your equipment and a very neat dog that you may or may not see is there watching all night for unwanted guests that might bother the livestock. But not on Pearl's watch. It was a great layover in every way. My only regret was not having a good cup of coffee and not watching the sun get to come up over the mountains.". . . (9/27/25) - "I can't say enough great things about this horse hotel! From the moment we arrived, Ike was welcoming, and clearly dedicated to providing excellent care. The facility was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed with horses comfort and safety in mind. My horse settled in quickly, which speaks volumes about the calm and well-run environment. Ike had a plethora of knowledge about horses and was very patient with my son answering all his questions and letting him feel included in caring for our horses. I especially appreciated the attention to detail - clean stalls, fresh water, high-quality feed, and plenty of turn out space. Communication was also excellent. It truly felt like a home away from home for me and my horses. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for exceptional care and a beautiful, well-maintained setting. We will definitely be returning.". . . (9/30/25) - "HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Beautiful views, immaculate, HUGE stalls are ready when you arrive. Hay racks, mounted feed bins, fresh water buckets and sawdust ready for our horses. Super helpful and very observant. While my friend parked her trailer, he realized she needed grease for the ball. He helped her with this and sent us with extra grease for down the road. Although we slept in our trailer, Ike does offer a common area with shower and toiletries. TV AREA, TOO! WE'LL BE BACK, IKE! ~ Mt. Rogers is next!!" |

Comments: (12/3/24) - "LoSapio Farms was a layover stop on my move from NY to South Carolina. I talked with Sara prior to our trip and she made me feel comfortable that we'd be well taken care of at her place. I'd never hauled my horses this far and she put my mind at ease. It was easy to access from I-81 and had plenty of room for me, my husbands and dog, and two horses, We were towing a two-horse trailer and a moving truck towing our car and had plenty of room for all our vehicles. We had planned to arrive in the early evening but encountered significant delays on 81 that pushed our arrival back to midnight. Sara waited up for us and helped us get settled. The stalls were very spacious and deeply bedded, with water buckets already filled. In the morning I put the horses in a paddock so they could stretch their legs for the next leg. The loft apartment was very nice, quiet and clean. We were so exhausted that we slept like logs. It was so nice that there was a water bowl at the ready for our dog, and coffee supplies for us. I highly recommend LoSapio Farms." |

Comments: (5/24/20) - "Kate and her family were very accommodating and welcoming. Due to the virus outbreak, she took extra precautions to make sure we were safe (we stayed in their comfortable home). My horse was very happy, he had other horses he could see and a huge well-bedded stall attached to his own, very clean, private paddock. As an added bonus, Kate cooked dinner for us and we had fresh veggies from her garden that she sent home with us. The property is beautiful and easy to find, our trip north used a different route (for us) 29 and 15, which was quieter than the traffic on 95 or 81, but didn’t seem to take any longer. TuckerBerry Farm will definitely be our layover on our north/south journey from now on.". . . (5/25/20) - "Kate and her mom were wonderful. They were there when we arrived. We were there during Covid 2020. Kate and her mother had the stalls ready and water buckets full so we didn’t have to touch anything. She also brought her front loader to the back of my trailer so I could clean it out. Hooking up my living quarters horse trailer was easy. Thank you for the hospitality.". . . (9/22/20) - "What a great find for two of our horses we were transporting.. 5 stars! Super friendly host." |

Comments: (7/9/22) - "We had the honor of being their first customers. Our horses were happy and the views are lovely.". . . (9/14/23) - "Stayed overnight with 4 polo ponies in a nice grassy paddock. Owner greeted us. Easy access to/from I-81 with 30' trailer. A number of restaurants nearby. Clean and comfy 1 bed/1futon apartment on site. Excellent experience overall.". . . (9/29/23) - "Beautiful location nestled in the hills of Virginia. Great size paddock for my horse. Host was very accommodating even though we arrived much later than anticipated.". . . (5/4/25) - "5 stars *****.This is a fantastic stopover location. Kendall and David are warm, attentive, and accommodating hosts and the facility is awesome. We had the option of a clean and spacious stall or a large green, fenced paddock pasture for our horse overnight stay. The circular driveway makes pulling in and out of the site a breeze! The farm is easy to find with close access off I-81. There are lots of restaurants, gas stations and grocery options nearby. In addition, the farm offers an adorable apartment off the main house which allows you to stay on site - so safe and convenient. The apartment is clean and quite comfortable - kitchen, living room, bed/ shower, AC and cable TV. We were able to bring our dog. Everyone (humans/horse/dog) were well rested and ready for adventures the next day! This place is perfect!". . . (9/26/25) - "Friendly and accommodating hosts and a nice, grassy paddock for the horses. Gravel pad hookups for the trailer. The last mile is a bit curvy but don’t be deterred. Great layover." |

Administrator's Comments: Following are a few comments from the facilitie's Facebook page. For additional reviews from that source, click here. "I enjoyed my short stay at Lazy R. The stalls were large and beautifully cleaned with fresh water for my two horses. It was quiet. Hook up was easy for my LQ horse trailer. Getting in and out of Cherry Lane was a challenge, but very doable. I will definitely be back next year.". . . "What a great spot to Layover! Super friendly and hospitable, easy to get to off 95, awesome stalls and hook up. Brought my dog too. Highly recommend for a layover. We will be back!". . . "Lazy R was the perfect layover stop on our way south. They were so welcoming and made my horse feel at home and took such good care of him during his stay. The property is lovely and quiet and the stalls are large and deeply bedded. I would definitely recommend Lazy R if looking for a peaceful layover stop right off 95. Such a simple and positive experience.". . . "We stayed with our two horse at the ranch coming back from WEC Florida! We loved it! The stalls were clean and FULL of shavings. Everything was safe and the owner is just great. Our horses were safe and got to rest and also got to go in turn out to strech their legs! 10/10 service!" The host was responsive when making reservations and was extremely helpful upon my arrival thru my entire stay. She’s truly a super host! The farm was nothing short of Spectacular!! Big rig friendly, the barn and paddocks were clean, spacious and well laid out. One of the best experiences I have had traveling, I highly recommend. I know I will be back!". . . (10/27/23) - "I stayed here on my way to Florida. Not only was the place super clean; Leah was lovely! My horses were relaxed and ready for travel the next day. I also was lucky enough to stay in the cabin on site. It was adorable and also very convenient. Leah was super easy to communicate with and she was also very accommodating! I would recommend this stop to anyone traveling south!". . . (11/22/23) - "Small but very nice facility, big stalls, individual turnouts & hookup for our trailer w/living qtrs. We were much later than anticipated due to traffic issues in DC, but Leah was right there when we arrived; she even cleaned out the trailer while we got the horses settled. Very convenient to Rte. 95, fuel & restaurants right down the road.". . . (7/19/25) - "Leah was great. The stall was clean with fresh water when we arrived. There are 2 small paddocks for turn out. The trailer parking, stalls and turn out are all in a gated area, so no escapies. We look forward to staying at the Lazy R again." |

Comments: (3/18/16) - "Great place. Safe barn, big stalls; bright and open. I was even given turnout if needed. Stopped on our way back from Florida heading to New England. I highly recommend Hidden Meadows as a stop over.". . . (5/19/17) - "Absolutely wonderful!!! My 2 horses stayed there on our way back from FL to NY on 5/10/17. Mary Beth and her husband, Jeff, were fantastic! The facility was gorgeous and the accommodations for my horses were perfect!". . . (3/31/19)- "This was a great place to overnight on our way back from Florida. Mary Beth and Jeff were easy to reach and met us at the barn when we arrived. There was an easy turnaround for the trailer. The stalls were large, well bedded and had fresh water ready. Mary Beth did night check and let us know the next am how much our horses dank, etc. They also had 24 hour camera monitoring. We were hesitant at first because it was a little further off the highway than we hoped. However, it was an easy drive and well worth the short detour. There were lots of restaurants and hotels at the exit as well. They also offered a room at the house if we were interested. I highly recommend them. . . (7/7/20) - "This place is awesome. Mary Beth was great with communication and extremely attentive even though we arrived at 3 am. The facility and service were wonderful. Stalls were clean, well-bedded, airy, and very large. There was electric hookup for our LQ trailer. We will definitely layover there again in the future.". . . (1/14/25) - "We have stayed at Hidden Meadow for the last couple years on our way from Massachusetts to Ocala. The stalls are safe and well-bedded, the cottage is beautiful and close to the barn and also allows dogs. It is well appointed and the beds are super comfortable. Our hosts have always been flexible and friendly, even in the wee hours. I highly recommend this farm!". . . (3/8/25) - "Host was available by phone and met us when we arrived. Stalls clean and large. Room for our large trailer with nice private area. We will be back.". . . (3/8/25) - "We used this spot twice this winter and will definitely be visiting again! The hosts went above and beyond to help us with our stay, and trailer issues. Stalls were spacious and nicely set up for us. Very easy to communicate with. Pretty spot!". . . (6/13/25) - "A Hidden Gem Worth the Detour. Tucked slightly off the beaten path, this farm is a true hidden gem - absolutely worth the extra few minutes to get there. Mary Beth is a phenomenal host, incredibly kind and welcoming, not only to guests but also to your horse if you're traveling with one! The cottage itself was thoughtfully stocked with everything you could need - and then some. From convenient essentials to unexpected luxuries like delicious snacks, one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in while traveling, and even popsicles waiting in the freezer, every detail felt carefully considered. The bathroom and shower were beautiful and spotless. We loved it so much, we extended our stay to two nights. If you have the chance, don’t miss out on this, peaceful and perfectly appointed . |

Comments: (4/18/14) - "Very nice place. Large stalls and turn out paddock if desired. Owners very helpful. Have stayed here repeat times and have always found consistency. Beautiful area and my horses and I love the chickens! Makes us feel right at home.". . . (5/17/17) - "Sandra and her husband went above and beyond to get me settled after a long hot (97 deg) day of travel from FL-VA. Nice cement block 12' x 12' matted stalls with fans. One mile cement drive at the end, plenty of room to turn around. THX for the eggs!". . . (3/11/18) - "Sandra and Larry are the BEST horse hotel hosts around. I can not say enough about their facility and hospitality. This is our 4th year doing a layover at their facility on our way to South Carolina. If you need a place to put your horse up for the night I couldn’t suggest this place more highly. Very easily located to the highway, hotels and dining. Our 50 ft. rig can get in and out easily.". . . (5/31/18) - "A perfect stay!! Very clean, beautiful ranch with great hosts! Very convenient to highway 81- We would like to stay here again. Thank you Sandra.". . . (9/27/18) - "I had a great layover at this place. The owners were super nice and helpful. Stalls were big end clean for a 16/17 hand horse to feel comfortable to be able to roll. Enough room for my trailer. I know when ever I’m in need of a place to stay on my trips I will definitely go back. Great place and peaceful. Highly recommended.". . . (10/16/20) - "Emmanuel Equine is easy access to I-81, as well as, food and lodging. The farm is clean and stalls are quite adequate. Your horse(s) will be in good hands with Sandra.". . . They work hard to meet your needs as well as the horses. The stalls are exceptionally clean and filled with a soft bed for the horses. They have a convenient location beside I-81. Sandra and Larry treat the horses like their own.". . . (4/21/21) - "Sandra runs a top notch facility. This is our go to place when we travel on 81. She is a kind and knowledgeable person.
